Ben Wyvis Hotel

Charming, authentic and traditional Victorian hotel. Perhaps a bit dated for some, however that’s what makes this place special.

The hotel was easy to find and check-in was very straight forward. The matress was very thin and hard. There were only 2 accessible plugs which were not near the desk which made working in my room difficult as my cable was not ling enough to charge my laptop as i worked. Again i was unable to charge my phone overnight and have it on my bedside table as no available socket. There were cracks in the ceiling and the paint looked like it needed freshened up. The signal dropped out on thw TV a few times so i watched tv in my phone instead. Water pressure was not great and i didn't like the factni couldn't change the height of the shower head. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

Hotel is a bit tired even taking into account the age. It doesn’t mention that there is only a limited fixed menu in the evening and seems to concentrate on coach holidays and motorcycles.

Check in really helpful and friendly. Breakfast bit of a let down, I understand when catering for coach parties a buffet breakfast can be cleared as some people tend to take everything on offer, but should be either buffet (take the occasional greed hit) or plated service, to counter act costs, as having a scowling person place smallest amount he can on your plate spoilt what was a good service hotel stay.

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay. Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. Food was a bit of a disappointment but understa dable due to just reopening. Dinner menu was reduced, could have been better as not much to choose from due to reduced menu. A bit of imagination could have made it better. Food service staff were 50/50 some were superb but some were severly in need of some training. Buffet breakfast was served and when asked for a 2nd rasher of bacon, was told can only have 1 as there wasnt enough to go round. Again minimal choice & over cooked Would stay again on the hope of this just being a reopening glitch

Service at meals was excellent with attentive staff and quality food.

Lovely grounds and only 5 mins from village centre

Lovely old hotel. Well refurbished but still keeping in that classic older hotel style. Good food. Great staff. Have stayed there twice. Requested to have a superior room away from everyone else staying in the hotel. Antisocial that I am. No problems and only another £15. Will be back a third time when I’m back in that area.
