This is truly a gem of an inn. Hip, comfortable, clean and friendly staff. The waterfall outside the doors is gorgeous! Love it and will visit again!

Very comfortable with excellent service from the staff and owners. Quiet and out of the way yet not far from Amherst and Northampton. Would definitely recommend it and would stay there again.

"A Very Pleasant, Comfortable, Welcoming Inn"

10.0

We recently had a very nice few days at The Old Mill Inn. We stayed in one of the "suites" which could better be considered an apartment. It was great--clean, comfortable, roomy, well equipped kitchen/dining area, everything we could want or need for our stay. This was basically a visit to see if it would be a nice place to meet up with others for Thanksgiving. Almost certainly we will get some of those take-away Thanksgiving dinners from a nearby reataurant, but the kitchen in the suite would be perfectly fine to prepare our own feast. Justin assured us anything extra we need will be provoded. So our reservations for a Thanksgiving stay have been made and we are looking forward to it. But in addition to returning for Thanksgiving, we plan to stay at the Old Mill other times, just for short get-a-ways for ourselves. It is close to home, so no long drives involved. And there is plenty to do in the area out of our normal routine but a little too far for day trips. But no matter how convenient an inn's location may be, we would not consider return visits just for that. The building is as described, a restored mill over 150 years old. And the restoration has been very thoughtfully, and intelligently done. The rooms, suites and cafe are very comfortable and well planned. But while doing the architectural and space planning, the owners deliberatley kept much of the original interior of the mill visible. It is hard to describe, but in every space there is original woodwork or mill fixtures visible. It is fascinating to be able to see and appreciate. Our suite overlooks the mill falls. For us, the sound of the falls and the ability to look out our windows to see it was a big plus. And the view of The Mill River above and below the falls is very pretty. We watched a boy who could have been Huck Finn, sitting across the river, and catching a couple of decent size fish. The cafe provided a more than satisfactory selection for breakfast, including some great homemade baked goods. On weekends more cooked items are provided and the cafe attracts local people. And conveniently, the cafe is also open with beer and wine available in the evening. But no matter how nice a building or location may be, for us the owners and staff are the biggest factor in making a B&B or an inn a place where we want to stay and return. And The Old Mill's owners and employees are as nice a group of individuals we have ever had the pleasure of staying with. It is obvious that Justin and Meaghan are very aware of the impotance of the "welcoming" aspect of the business. In our few days spent there we met and interacted with a number of employees and every single one was as pleasant and helpful as could be. We know some of their names but to only mention those seems to us we are ignoring others, which is not right. So we will profusely thank everyone who without doubt was sincere in wanting us to have a pleasant stay. Which we definitely did. Thank you all. We look forward to seeing you again.

"A special opportunity for a historic stay"

10.0

From the warm welcome Deb provided to a fantastic night’s sleep, highly recommend! We had suites 12 (on lowest floor) and 10 (ground floor) I would recommend suites 11 and 12 if you want to be closest to the falls. The owners have done a really nice job with renovations. Be aware this is an old building and ceilings are creaky, so you may want to consider top floor rooms if this is an issue for you. Nice outdoor space to enjoy the falls at multiple tables. Can’t wait to return here and also to eat again at Waxwing Cafe!

This is an interesting facility; literally an old mill on the river. It is a nice place. However, there is not much in Hatfield for dining, and this hotel does not offer that much in that regard.
