The Landsby

We had a great stay at the Landsby. The room was clean and comfortable and well appointed (the ruminant-themed art was perhaps not to my taste, but who cares) and housekeeping was on the ball. The front desk staff were all friendly and helpful. I have only a few suggestions for improvements: - Service at M&V was a *little* slow. I had an empty soup bowl on our (small!) table for longer than I'd expect. I ended up parking it on the unoccupied table next to us, which shouldn't have been necessary. The food, however, was stellar. Best Italian wedding soup I've ever had, I think, and the flat iron steak and cocktails were superb. - Arrival: top level parking was full, so we parked in the lower lot on Copenhagen. But the door to the hotel was locked, with no way in; we had to haul all of our luggage outside, up the driveway, and up some steps into the hotel. The (very nice) desk clerk told us the door should have been propped open, and indeed, when we went back down, she had made sure that it was. - I was a little surprised that our room snacks weren't refreshed. It would have been convenient to have some replacement bottled water after coming back from an afternoon of touring and walking around Solvang, and some fresh jerky sticks for morning protein.

Love the hotel and location. This hotel is very dog friendly and centrally located near restaurants and shopping. We utilized the back gate in the small court yard and were instantly in the area we wanted to be. Dinning and bar are great at the hotel. The con was we had problems that were never addressed with AC not working. We had to keep our front door open at night because we were too hot to sleep otherwise. Also there was a plumbing problem next door that backed up to our tub that was a little gross but overall a good experience.

What a gem, flew in for business in Santa Barbara, but came in a day early to stay here, wonderful place, staff, rooms, we will be back next year

Staff was great. Room was very comfortable and the hotel was a great location to Solvang. We were able to walk everywhere

Parking was tight

The Landsby is well located and a beautiful hotel. The food in the restaurant and bar is excellent, as was the service. My only caveat, book a room in the back. The ones along the front road are a bit noisy, although the hotel does provide ear plugs.

Lovely place. Walk everywhere. Live music inside of the house bar at night.

The Landsby is a beautiful, comfortable respite after drinking wine in the Santa Ynez wine country. The staff is very welcoming, the food and drink delicious.

The hotel is centrally located in Solvang, which promotes itself as the most Danish city in the U.S., though to us it felt somewhat like a staged theme setting. Check-in was efficient, and the breakfast area was cozy with a Scandinavian touch. The bed sheets were clean, and amenities such as an elevator and on-site parking ($20) were convenient and appreciated.

The rooms are quite worn and do not reflect the photos on Booking.com, making the high rating hard to justify. Poor ventilation (windows don’t open), a very soft mattress, and noticeable noise from creaking floors and neighboring rooms affected our stay. Given the cost—over $400 for two rooms—the value was disappointing, especially compared to newer Hilton and Marriott stays at similar prices. We left feeling tired and underwhelmed.
