Grandview Lodge

Parking was close to the room. It’s a small place with probably a dozen rooms (like a small motel). Each room was easily accessible for those who need that. It was close to several gas stations, a terrific grocery store, and casual dining spots. We could also easily get on to the highway quickly that runs north and south to entry points to the Blue Ridge Highway.

Since breakfast started late (8:30), we were not able to stay that long to try it. We are travelers who like to get the day started early (say, 8:00 a.m.) and enjoy traveling when traffic is lower, see more sites, and take more hikes. There didn’t seem to be anyone available to respond to questions or assist with issues. When I got there I didn’t know what to do. No one was at the “office” desk or anywhere onsite. No note was left on what to do. Cell service is poor there but worked a little, so I think it’s important to have someone who will respond to questions/concerns at least within 10 minutes—either in person (preferred) or at least by text. For example, the bathroom bulb burned out—no one to call and no one around to report the issue. Dogs were allowed which I appreciate. I didn’t expect the barking or guests letting dogs wander freely—even into our room as we were packing up to leave. The next door guest/dog owner thought it was funny. I guess she thought her barking dog was funny too. The wall between our room and next door was not sufficient to eliminate hearing the conversation of the guests next door. We didn’t see how to regulate cooling that we thought was coming from ceiling vents. We did see a small wall unit heater.

De Lodge heeft een vriendelijke eigenaar. Woonkamer van het huis zag er gezellig uit en een prima plek om er een spelletje te doen en koffie of thee te drinken. Koffie en thee zijn gratis. De bedden zijn prima.

Onderhoud en schoonmaak van de Lodge verdienen meer aandacht.

Great all around, felt just like being at home.

The breakfast was absolutely wonderful. Scrambled eggs bacon biscuits coffee and juice. The staff, at the desk and the one how managed breakfast was very friendly.

The king room we stayed in was very dark. I could not see to do makeup and my husband who is 6ft had to bend down to see in the bathroom mirror. The room across the hall was a king room and very well lite and empty. Not sure why they couldn’t have decided to change our room considering the difference in the rooms

Very cozy. Excellent farm to table breakfast. Close to everything.

Lovely breakfast, nice seating area outside, comfy common areas, friendly team, easy parking, clean. Good communication from host.

No main light, so room was a little dark for my father to see well (he only has sight in 1 eye). WIFI didn't work but not a big deal for us. Mattress was sagging a little so kept rolling to the middle of the bed
