"Points if Memphis music"

10.0

The hotel was great. Awesome location. Breakfast served everyday and was excellent. Lots of choices. The focus of this review was the two guided trips to Graceland and Memphis musical heritage. Our guide was Austin. He is a transplant to Memphis but don’t kid yourself he is a true Memphis music man. His tours were insightful entertaining and full of culture He offered insights into Graceland. Sun records and stax records company. He was witty and kept your insight. He was a great tour guide. Do him a favor don’t always be the last one to get on the bus Cape cod guy

"Needs some updates and attention but good enough"

8.0

Let me start by saying that it wasn't as bad as the reviews say, but I will go through Pros and Cons. It could be really good with a few tweaks. PRO: Very friendly front desk staff and valets/front door Room was clean Very convenient and was actually quiet, despite the location CON: THE SHOWER! It's so weird, its clean, but looks 50 years old. Everything else looks up to date but the shower sticks out like a sore thumb THE CARPETS! Definitely a musty smell throughout the entire hotel and room. Definitely wanted to have my slippers on. Bar/Restaurants: No one seemed to care much or definitely not in a hurry. In the main lounge, they bartender was off to the side on a call, scrolling on her phone and eating. The next day, I waited a good 5 minutes to even be acknowledged and be seated for breakfast. It was very convenient for the business I had, downtown but will most likely choose one of the boutique hotels in the area next time.

"Not the best Westin!"

6.0

Stayed two nights at The Westin Memphis Beale Street and came away with pretty mixed feelings. The positives first: the location is excellent if you want to explore downtown Memphis on foot. Beale Street is right there, and the Irish pub a block away was a great spot to unwind after meetings. The hotel itself feels solid and well built, with a nice overall structure and lobby atmosphere. They were also accommodating with a late checkout request, which I appreciated. A couple things to know before booking: parking is valet only and runs about $43/day, so budget for that. Also, downtown Memphis itself felt quieter and more empty than I expected. Convenient, yes. Vibrant, not really. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. My AC did not work the first night, which made sleeping difficult. At first I thought maybe it was me adjusting the thermostat incorrectly, I was up till 5 am literally fighting. Eventually, sleeping meds and I made it. I let the hotel know of the issue the next day. Engineering attempted a fix, and I went out but the room was still too warm the second night (literally much warmer than the outside temperature). To their credit, front desk moved me to another room, and the AC there worked properly so I slept much better the next day. I appreciated that they made the effort to resolve it. Unfortunately, the second room did not appear to be cleaned particularly well. There was even a wine cork left behind on top of the minibar from a previous guest, which did not inspire confidence about housekeeping standards. Having to repack and move rooms after a full workday was also frustrating so not so ideal. The late checkout experience was another example of communication issues. The front desk approved my late checkout until 2 PM (much appreciated), but housekeeping apparently was never informed. A housekeeper knocked aggressively and came by 2 times. I told her around 12:30 I will leave at 2 pm but she came exactly at 1:45 PM knocking extremely intensely, and walking away when I opened the door, and another employee was also around who said she knocked and left and he has no idea about it. I just packed up and left around 1:50 (frankly it's only 10 mins) because I felt like I was doing something wrong staying longer. Overall, the staff generally tried to help, and the location is genuinely convenient. But between the AC problems, room cleanliness concerns, room switch inconvenience, and internal communication breakdowns, the stay didn’t quite live up to what I’d expect from a Westin property. For me, this was closer to a 3 out of 5 stay: not disastrous, but definitely not seamless either.

"NOT IMPRESSED - NO HOSPITALITY- AVERAGE AT BEST"

6.0

This was our first visit to the Westin - Memphis Beale Street and we were NOT impressed. As Marriott Titanium members, we expected better that an average hotel. There are NO perks for Titanium members such as There were no warm welcome, no hospitality and although the rooms were spacious and comfortable beds, the bathroom needs updating. The bathroom is huge with a separate bath tub and the shower is on the opposite side (2 x 2) with a door that would always pop open (wouldn't stay closed); therefore, always water on the floor. The toilet was low so older people have difficulty getting up. There was valet parking for $$$$ and also a bar in the lobby. It was 2 blocks to the main drag of Beale Street which can get loud . The noise was often heard in our room during our 2 night stay. We were there post Viking Cruise. The breakfast was pathetic, with basically sausage, eggs with preservatives in them, a small bread and muffin selection. Ironically, they had a "Gluten-free toaster"; yet there was no gluten - free bread! There was NO yogurt or berries, but some cut up melon. At 9:00 am , I requested to have our room cleaned before 2 pm. The gal at the front desk wrote down our room number but neglected to tell housekeeping so when we returned at 3, it still hadn't been cleaned. The Housekeeping manager who I saw in the hallway, said that no one ever notified her of it. So poor communication.

The Westin in Memphis was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Signs of disrepair were evident right away.
