Chalet Kilauea

Such a great find! Volcano is a beautiful area, and Chalet Kilauea made our stay a memorable pleasure. The bathroom is large and attractive, like showering in a cave. The kitchen was equipped with a mini fridge, utensils, plates/cups/glasses - everything we needed. The deco was unique. I would recommend.

Our bedroom was very large with a kitchen, dressing room, and huge bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The electric fireplace was nice. There is a small koi pond in the courtyard. Most importantly, this hotel is convenient to the Volcanos National Park.

The faux lava interior design was uniquely grotesque. The glass raised bowl kitchen sink was not functional and lacked hot water. There was a small cockroach in the kitchen area.

הגענו בשעה מאוחרת כאשר נותרה חניה אחת פנויה, החניות צרות מאוד, רכב רחב לא נכנס בין הקווים. נצמדנו לשיחים מצד שמאל לכניסה לחנייה.

Unfortunately, we were caught in the inclement weather and flooding on Saddle Road heading from Kona to the Chalet Kīlauea property on 2/08/26. We let the Chalet Kīlauea staff know what happened, and they were so kind and offered us an upgrade in our FAVORITE ROOM “the Flintstone house” room at a later date!! Robert is a ROCKSTAR!!

HEADS UP as there is no alert with check in or posting anywhere about not drinking the tap water. It never occurred to me this was an issue so I used the water to brush my teeth. Later by happenstance I learned about catchment water in Hawaii and private systems not being tested. This is particularly important after heavy rain when contamination is higher and we arrived after record breaking rainfall. It seems an easy and essential piece of information to provide. Only when I inquired was I informed the tap water was filtered but not treated and “could make you sick.” Needless to say that was not what I expected to hear. That being said this unique funky place is charming and very close to Volcanoes National Park and the staff is very responsive

Very nice hotel, with a self care guest concept that we appreciated. The room is huge, the bathroom is stunning. The hotel is located in the Volcano Village, in the middle of a tropical park which is amazing. I highly recommand the place.

Wir hatten Pech mit dem Wetter und es gab einen Elektrizitätsausfall. David und Robert waren aber sehr entgegenkommend und stets ansprechbar

We absolutely adored this location while visiting the volcano. It was so incredibly unique. Staying in our room we felt like we were on set for the Swiss Family Robinson. Very comfortable and well appointed room.

Some of the plumbing and appliances seemed a little dated. As it was charming it was also a bit chaotic.
