- Room furniture was a little bit shabby/worn - Cooked breakfast took a long time to be served

Location wise 10/10. Very helpful staff and very clean property and well maintained .

The hot stone massage was absolutely heavenly. A huge recommendation for the wonderful therapist from Hungary. The ambience and music were spot on and made the whole experience perfect.

We brought our family together far and wide to celebrate Christmas together from Christmas eve through to Boxing Day. We had such a wonderful time!! The hotel itself is gorgeous - big corridors, high ceilings, lots of Christmas decorations, an open fire and really clean. It sits within a short walking distance from Reading Station and also has parking (at an additional fee) which is accessible. We checked in on Christmas eve, we have 4 double rooms in the main building. Each room had its own character, a comfortable big bed and lovely bathroom. The only issue we had with the room was the lack of lighting which is a real pain when getting ready. Noise level was fine, you could hear banging of people's rooms doors as each door is a fire door, but it didn't bother us. Christmas Day... we woke up to a Christmas stocking of goodies at our door - such a lovely touch!! The food... was amazing. We had a set menu three course meal on Christmas Eve, a set menu 6 course meal on Christmas Day and on Boxing day we ordered off their every day menu for lunch which was equally delightful. Our Christmas Day lunch had the addition of a live piano and visit from the man himself (Father Christmas!) for the kids. The cocktails... delicious! I was in my element! The staff... attentive, kind, hospitable, nothing was too much trouble and did everything with a big smile. Finally the spa!! We all had a spa treatment on Boxing Day morning organised by Chimi. I am no stranger to a massage and I was really impressed with how good it was at Ahelia Spa! It was amazing massage. My mum had a hand treatment which she really enjoyed and my dad a foot massage which he too said was great. The steam and sauna was nice, shame there is no pool but it didn't ruin the experience for us. All in all, a really fantastic experience and Christmas stay!
