Swissotel Buyuk Efes Izmir

18 day business trip. I’ve stayed at this hotel since it reopened its doors. It’s safe to say its now starting to look dated, and whilst prices sky seem to sky rocket way more than anywhere else locally, the quality and service that should be associated with such elevated costs haven’t stayed in line!

1 Wierd thing the classic cocktails ( (old fashioned and manhattan ) never seen an old fashioned that has added mineral water inside and manhattan comes with a big ice cube Wich also Wierd.. n

This was the most expensive and unfortunately, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I traveled from New York and stayed for 7 days following a hair transplant surgery, expecting a comfortable and accommodating stay. Sadly, it was far from it. To start, the pricing is unreasonable. A single bottle of water from the minibar was 7 euros, despite the already high room rate. One evening, while recovering and unable to leave the hotel, I ordered room service a cappuccino and a slice of cake with ice cream for 17 euros. I expected at least a decent experience at that price, but the cappuccino was made with instant coffee and milk powder, and the cake was terrible. Worse still, a hotel staff member entered my room around 10 PM without knocking or calling ahead while I was inside. Their explanation was that they hadn’t been able to “provide service” because I hadn’t left the room all day. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. It was a serious breach of privacy and made me feel very unsafe. To top it all off, as I was checking out, I was charged an extra 200 TL per day for parking in the hotel’s lot. I’ve stayed in many hotels across different countries and have never encountered a hotel charging their own guests for parking like this. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel. What should have been a comfortable recovery stay turned into a stressful and disappointing experience. Swissôtel Büyük Efes gives a bad impression of Izmir and Turkey. I will never return

Positives I stayed here with my five year old daughter. She was treated kindly by all the staff. She particularly bonded with Ayse, Deniz and Solah. Ayse noticed it had been my daughter's fifth birthday two days before we arrived which was a lovely touch. She always made time for my daughter to sit and chat with her. Beautiful five star hotel, good facilities, full spa, saunas, hairdressers, two pools, indoor and out, which my child loved. There looks like an excellent gym too which I didn't have opportunity to use due to child. Beautiful gardens with sculptures, lovely aroma of Jasmine, lavender, amongst others and a children's play area. Gardeners were landscaping and tending to the plants throughout the day. Good choices at breakfast both of hot and cold food, some Turkish, some international. Good quality non UPF breads, sourdough and wholemeal, good choice of hot foods. Lots of fruits, seeds, berries, chia seeds, herbs, leaves, tahini and Molasses. Anybody following a wholefood way of life would be catered for and able to find WFPB that is not so easy to source outside the hotel. Breakfast staff are very attentive and welcoming. I asked for help from reception twice, once for a sheet because the duvet was too hot and the second time for a top up of green tea. Fantastic service from Housekeeping, Elif and team. Cons Check out was 12noon which is nice. My flight was 9pm so I asked about how much it would cost to use the pool after check out I was quoted £60!

I have stayed at this property a few times now and it's been fantastic each time. Professional staffs, very good facilities and conveniently located.

One of my best choices ever and I strongly recommend..

I love this hotel. The rooms are large and comfortable. The food is excellent, and in the Michelin guide book. It has a large beautiful garden for strolling. It is one block from the harbor walk. It has a hot jacuzzi in the spa. If there are minor issues they are quickly taken care of.

Excellent hotel and stay. Housekeepers are outstanding. So is the rest of the staff.

Waited for a long time checking in because the room wasn't ready, the time passed the checking in time.

We are frequent guests in this property and we love it.
