Hotel Van Cleef

What more can I add to what other reviewers have stated other than add another 5 star review for this amazing hotel. We visited in May this year and like others we put in our review that we would be back. And yes we returned in October as promised. There was a lovely welcome from all the team. We enjoyed not only the hotel but the city of Florence in another season. We will be back for a third visit in 2026 it’s that good,

This is a very special place. Hotel Van Cleef has a wonderful location, just off the beaten track in a beautiful part of Bruges. It is beautifully decorated, every space is so relaxing. The food and cocktails are delicious. But what makes this place so special is the staff. The family owners and other team members are exceptional. They are interested in every guest and really care that you have an amazing stay. They could not be more accommodating of our toddler and quite simply, they are people people. If you are looking for a hotel with a personal touch, do not hesitate to book here. Thank you all for a wonderful holiday!

What a beautiful place to stay in a beautiful city. We were welcomed from the moment we arrived and treated with champagne and sat in the wonderfully decorated lounge. Rooms were very spacious and clean. I went with my mother and niece and we all felt like princess living in a castle. We met the owners but Benjamin was who stood out to us. He was funny and made us after dinner drink and a fire to relax by. They have a small staff and were pleased to see Benjamin again in the morning for breakfast. Would come back and stay again.

So many places style themselves as “Boutique Hotels” but the Van Cleef truly is just such a place. It manages to combine an effortless sense of luxury with the feeling of being at home, a remarkable and winning combination. The decor is simply stunning and testament to the exquisite taste of the owners. The staff provide a warm and attentive yet discrete and quiet level of service which is most welcome. Brugge is a stunning city; its medieval heart a joy to explore, and the Van Cleef is the perfect location from which to do so. The restaurant recommendations made by our ever helpful concierge Benjamin were perfect. Breakfast is an absolute feast, with delicious pastries, fresh fruits and the most beautiful scrambled eggs I’ve ever seen! The lounges are perfect for relaxing, open fires adding to the autumnal atmosphere- and the canal side terrace must be splendid when the weather is warmer The Vanhaecke family are justifiably proud of the way in which they have turned this Italianate mansion into a stunning hotel and we cannot praise their efforts enough. The Van Cleef exceeded expectations in every way, and it’s hard to imagine how it could be improved upon. Many thanks to Frederik, Pascale and all their team - we hope to return for another magical stay.

The Van Cleef provides an exceptional level of comfort and service in an unbeatable location in the heart of Brugge. The staff are quietely efficient but always welcoming and helpful, the breakfast is simply sensational.

I can't say enough good things about our experience here. We arrived before noon and was greeted by Rebecca who was so nice and helpful. We got into our rooms upon arrival and she recommended an outstanding restaurant for lunch. The owner, a gentleman whose name I don't recall, was the around the entirety of our three night stay. He always had a smile on his face and always ready to help. The evening manager was the same, just as nice as he could be and helpful. Breakfast didn't start until 8am but I went before 8a on all mornings and they were quick to welcome me and serve me. Kitchen and bar staff were also super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our rooms. Everything worked and they were as advertised in their online photos. I liked the location as it was not in a busy area. Nights were quiet and peaceful. And it was an easy walk to the center square. And, lastly, the hotel is nicely decorated. Not sure how to describe it but suffice to say the owner has put a lot of effort and resources into making the hotel (lobby areas and rooms) very tasteful and relaxing.

What a magical, memorable visit. Impeccable service from our arrival to our very early morning departure ( we were met at the elevator with coffee and luggage assistance by the owner). Incredibly friendly desk, restaurant & bar staff. Beautiful rooms and wonderfully whimsical common areas (Winter Garden in sea greens and blues and a cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace on the canal). We can’t wait to come again!
