Sunset Inn - John Day

Clean, upgraded rooms. Good rates.

I should have listened to my gut when we first pulled up. There were mattresses piled up along the pool house (not working). The room had a very strong odor. The bathroom paint job was terrible and the shower head needed repair. The security chain on the door was pulled out. I would not suggest this place to anyone.

There was some dirty laundry in the room when we got there. It was noisy and the heater blew mostly cool air when set at 70 degrees

Helpful staff accommodated a somewhat late check-in. Front desk person was friendly and proficient!

Great location for walking to local restaurants and heritage site. Owners are kind and easy to work with. They allowed dogs!

No breakfast offered! Tv worked fine.

The beds were comfortable and clean. We stayed in the 3 bed room. It was nice and roomy!

The chair and couch in the room were filthy. The ice machine wasn't working and it said they had a pool and they definitely did not.

We stayed two nights in John Day, first night we stayed at Best Western. Big mistake it cost us $$$ more and we had issues; couldn't get hooked up to the internet, the coffee maker in the room didn't work, and the shower was more like a sand blaster than a shower. I didn't need any soap, due to loosing a layer of skin! Save yourself $$$ and a big hassle and stay at the Sunset... You can buy a pretty nice breakfast for $$$ you will save.

The room was clean and the staff was very nice. Their young children were a joy to see running around.

There is a smell. That is the only complaint that I have. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but it is some sort of a spice and it was very overwhelming. It unfortunately made me fairly nauseous and gave me a headache.
