"TOP Helvetia Hotel, St Petersburg"

10.0

The hotel is very attractive with a courtyard off the street where there are tables and a bar. The old building is beautifully maintained. The best thing about the hotel itself is the young, wonderfully helpful reception staff who will answer any question you have with the greatest courtesy and helpfulness. Unusually, the hotel iron was clean! One drawback was an old-fashioned flush on the lavatory which made disturbing noises when the bath was emptying. Food was good enough but not particular. However, there was an excellent Georgian restaurant less than a block away. Location was excellent being a block off Nevsky Prospect, the main street.

"Great hotel; good location; wi-fi poor"

10.0

The Helvetia has become my favourite hotel in St Petersburg for business trips. Its location is convenient for rail and metro connections. Customer service is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Another advantage for businessmen is that the attached Marcus bar - which also acts as the breakfast room for hotel guests - is virtually open at all hours, serving good wholesome food at reasonable prices. However, it should not be assumed that the Helvetia is only for business guests; the hotel offers an excellent base for those seeking to explore the many attractions of St Petersburg. The hotel was previously the Swiss consulate and its style and charm gives a good first impression of the city for visitors. The only disadvantage: the poor quality of paid-for wi-fi connection if your room is not in a central position.

"Excellent Hotel - Service, Quality and Price"

10.0

Wonderful quality and service, even more so because of the great price! Great location just off the main street, so not as noisy, but close to the action and transportation. Has a good restaurant.

"Great experience"

10.0

So much information to take in when choosing a hotel that it still feels like pot luck. This was our 1st trip to Russia so have nothing to compare this trip with. Great city and great hotel. We found that eating at the hotel was easier than trawling the city for restaurants - and this is rare for us. Both the Marius and Clairet were fab, the latter being a posh version.

"Nice hotel"

10.0

Saint Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Helvetia Hotel is a charm place, walking distance from Nevski Prospekt (the main avenue, but around 45 minutes walking from the Neva River and the "Hermitage Museum" -anyway most of the attractive sites in town are between the hotel and the river all the way Nevski P.). The rooms are big, but some of them without air condition, not a big problem for Russian weather. Breakfast just ok. Service very good. Yes, I will go back.

"Excellent hotel for business or leisure"

10.0

High-quality 4-star hotel, close to the centre and with a subway station around the corner. Very comfortable and with great service and breakfast. The personnelle can seem rude at times, but it is only appearance: they were very efficient and responsive in the end. I recommend this hotel.
