Helvetia Hotel

I will start with the bad...my only issue with this place was that we (I was travelling with a mate) had to pay extra to get twin beds (ie a superior room) - so if you are travelling with anyone other than your partner, be aware that you will be sharing a bed unless you pay up! I have never come across this in all my travels and thought it was a total con to be honest. But on to the good stuff...the hotel itself is a beautifully restored building that is very well maintained. Good location within the city too - about 40 mins walk to the historical centre (Hermitage etc), but plenty of bars/restaurants within 10-15mins walk too. And St Petersburg is one city you definitely won't mind walking around as it is beautiful too! The front staff all spoke English very well and were very accommodating. We didn't try out the hotel restaurants, but they both looked busy and very pleasant. I would definitely recommend.

this is small boutique hotel, in the historic center. Highly professional staff, great service, good food in the restaurant. The only downfall is that there is no place to hide from smoking people in the restaurant, but this is common thing in Russia.

Quaint well run hotel. Rooms were a bit small but not an issue. Well located. has two restaurants, and in walking distance to all sites (A real long walk to the Hermitage, but after all.....St. Petersburg needs to be walked.)

Really excellent hotel with superb staff, brilliantly situated. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Very comfortable beds. The only issue I had was with the sir-conditioning which has a lowest setting at 16C which is too warm for me as I like very cool bedrooms, but that was a personal thing and in no way should put any traveller off from staying here. It really is a highly efficient and delightful hotel. The staff are quite, quite wonderful. I have never received such a warm welcome in a hotel before from such excellent professional people. Lovely hotel.

Very nice stay..... Very helpful and pleasant staff..... Nice breakfast..... The only negative side was the bed was too soft. The hotel is very nicely kept and in a good location but quite a walk to the main sights, so make sure you have your walking shoes.... That said I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel is very close to Nevsky street and metro station. We liked the two restaurants within the hotel; the food quality was great. Finally hotel employees are very helpful for everything. Great hotel for St Petersburg.

This Hotel is extremely clean and the Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

Rooms need updating but they are clean. Fair value. Excellent breakfasts, terrific staff and service. Great location. Definitely would recommend as long as one doesn't mind rooms that are outdated and spartan. We don't spend much time in the room so it wasn't a problem for us.
