Lough Erne Resort

The property is absolutely fantastic!!! Lovely with the water surrounding it! Our room was lovely! It was clean and had everything you would need to stay!

The location is lovely, the building itself is beautiful with nice views that give you a very peaceful atmosphere. The rooms themselves were well decorated and the overall bars and restaurants had great quality food (toasties especially!) the Thai Spa was very good, I had booked in for a Thai contentment treatment and can fully say it left me very content ! I appreciated there were separate sauna/steam room facilities for the main pool area and the spa area for that extra bit of peace. The food is definitely worth mentioning as not one meal disappointed in terms of taste, portion and quality. We dined in both the Catalina and the Blaney Bar. The Catalina 5 Course menu was lovely, I opted for pigeon, beef and pear tart which were all beautiful. In the Blaney Bar we dined more casually with Soup and Toasties which on both visits we were leaving clean plates ! I appreciated the Blaney Bar being able to do a cosmopolitan for me although it being off menu (not a big task as it’s a simple drink, but appreciated !)

Our stay had a good few small issues that wouldn’t have had a thought if they were a singular problem but when considering the stay as a whole it somewhat brought our experience down considerably. I wouldn’t leave a negative review as the stay was overall positive, but I would say we didn’t feel very attended by the staff in what I would expect for supposed 5 star service. We had delays checking in due to a system issue, but it seemed to make the staff give an unwelcome attitude as they needed to check us in manually. We then asked about dining reservations as no one had reached out prior to the stay as they would do with other reservations and were told the restaurants were all mostly booked, but weren’t given availability due to system outage - apparently this meant they also couldn’t lift a phone to call the restaurant staff directly for it. We then were under the impression they would follow up with us to confirm a booking but this never happened and luckily we were able to book ourselves in via the main website for the Catalina restaurant which was exceptional, but not the 5 star experience of getting booked in. The room we were given was very lovely, but unfortunately we had a view of the bins which came with a bit of noise occasionally, we also found the bathroom to be in poor shape with the need of some repairs as the shower was cracked, did not drain properly leading to a pool of water that leaked on to the floor. The rainfall shower head was also in need of some descaling while the handheld was very dented and damaged. The cistern on the toilet was also damaged in the piping showing a lot of grime underneath. As we were unable to book the grill, we dined in the blaney bar for both lunch and dinner across both nights, which while the food was gorgeous, the atmosphere was more of a restaurant vibe, where we felt the staff focused more on turning tables for more dining customers than fostering an environment for residents to sit and drink.

The most stunning hotel nicest hotel I have e we stayed in well worth the drive!
