The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The bed was super comfy and so was the pillows.

There was quite a bit of wear and tear within the hotel. Specifics - rust on disabled shower chair, dust or flies nest around fans in pool area, tiles came off in sauna room, stain in whirlpool. Actually was disappointed with the new bar area, used to be a lot nicer when we were frequent customers about 15 years ago, not a fan of the new seating or bold colour. But others might prefer that, just my opinion on what it used to be.

Staff where excellent, so friendly and helpful especially in the bar and at breakfast. Breakfast was lovely and lots of choice. Location lovely.

We stayed in a lodge room and honestly it was the room which let the stay down. Overall hotel and location lovely. The room was basic, not up to 5 star standards. No special touches- eg not even any painting/pictures on walls. No character within in the room to make it an inviting stay (considering the price you pay). Room was not cleaned despite sign being left on door to request clean. We rang reception and towels/toilet roll and water brought to room but servicing of a room is a basic housekeeping provision and never had this issue anywhere before. Edging of shower seal black - very off putting and easily cleaned. Was quite a bit of dusk within the room, a lot of fixtures and fittings eg plug sockets poorly fitted and door handle loose in bathroom. Bathroom floor tiles significantly cracked - safety and cleanliness concerns with this. No information provided in room regarding local amenities and attractions. No fridge in the room also. Also for a 5 star hotel not even a basic of a biscuit - may seem minor, however it’s these small touches which make a hotel special and make you want to return or recommend to others. It just seems perhaps the lodges, at least the one we experienced was lacking a little attention to detail.

Really under invested in the Spa facilities, it’s old, hasn’t changed in years and lets the hotel down a bit. Needs investment.
