Homewood Suites by Hilton Houston West-Energy Corridor

This was the 3rd time staying here and I had no complaints until my truck was almost stolen. I didn't realize how bad it is in Houston, especially if you have a certain make or model vehicle. No fault to the employees at all, they were very cooperative and even let me park under the overhang by front desk my last night. Just be aware that criminals have no respect and there is no parking security, only a night guard who stays in building.

When I got to the room, the trash from the previous visitor was still in the trash can and it seemed like they took a used soap bar and put it back in the box for use by the next guest. The room itself wasn’t terrible, but there were some stains on the walls and the noise from traffic outside was pretty loud. The breakfast was above average though.

I stay in a lot of hotels. I have submitted a lot of reviews over the years for my fellow travelers. Usually, I create a pretty long list of things that I need or things that need attention. I had no problem creating quite a long list. I was not certain that they would be able to accommodate me. I was pleasantly surprised that they were and they did! The wear and tear on this hotel is just like any other, I think mainly because inexpensive materials are used to renovate rooms. I wished that there were more grab bars even in the non-accessible rooms. The windows were filthy, especially on the inside due to the massive amount of condensation that was created from the temperature change between inside and outside. We had a kitchen room, which left a lot to be desired because of the lack of any type of bowl that was larger than your hand and other things one might need to use for cooking. The staff was very conscientious. There was absolutely nothing fresh at the breakfast except some mushy apples. Carbs, Carbs and more Carbs. I understand that it is expensive to feed that many people. Fruit, butI suggest somehow this hotel should add this to the breakfast. There was a really cute waffle maker that was in the shape of Texas. The hotel was quiet, the parking lot was very safe and we enjoyed our stay.

NOT up to the Hilton Homewood Suites standard. I chose this hotel because Homewood Suites has a consistent reputation for quality excellence and a good value. This could have been a Fairfield Inn Suites or a Holiday Inn Suites. Homewood Suites is supposed to be more aligned with a Residence Inn. This one is NOT. Cleanliness - sub par. No one inspected our suite. Hair in the bathroom and I don’t know when the last time the room received a deep clean, but it’s been months. Carpet was stained and the sink stunk. Bedding - pillows are old and need to be replaced. At least the bedding was clean. Everything in working order - nope. The phone next to the bed didn’t work and the AC rattled all night. The second night my husband placed two socks to make the noise stop and then we had a better night sleep, that was suite 419. Make sure they fixed the AC unit before you choose that room. Breakfast: Attendant was friendly and kept everything clean and refreshed. I was disappointed in the quality of eggs. Were they real eggs? It’s questionable. Front desk: Check in was easy and front desk agent was friendly and upbeat. When we called with a question, from our own phone, because the one in the room didn’t work, the front desk agent went above and beyond to answer our question. Again, friendly and attentive. Customer service is not the issue here. Housekeeping needs to have a better inspection process in place. And an improved system for checking to see if the doors have been wiped down in the past 6 months. It took me 20 minutes to clean the tub before I would let my 10yo take a bath. It was that bad. I’m a loyal Homewood Suites customer but would never stay at this one again. Maybe management needs to spend a couple nights at the Homewood Suites Waco to see what a quality breakfast and a clean room looks like.

You need to have disinfectant wipes for work out equipment

I've stayed at this property before. I stayed again. This trip, I noted the curtains and kitchen countertops have now been redone. Very nice. The kitchen cabinets and appliances are still the same old one. New pictures were hung, but too high for the walls. Pictures in your home should be centered at eye level and not up by the ceiling. It makes the room look short. The walk in shower is nice, but unlike other Hiltons, you only get shampoo. No body wash or conditioner. I went to Walgreens and bought stuff. The room was clean and I did meet housekeeping throughout the stay to get additional items like toilet paper, towels and coffee. The ice machine on the ground floor still doesn't work, but it's loud. I stayed in a room directly across the hall, and it was loud. You could hear running water throughout each night for an hour, then a couple of hours of silence and then an hour of running water again. The breakfast lady really made an effort - breakfast tacos with salsa, cheese, etc. It was ok for the first 2 days, but then I had to go elsewhere because I needed some variety. Really my biggest issue is that the digital key through the Hilton Honors app will allow you to check in and select a room, but that's it. You never get a digital key. I went to the front desk and checked in with my ID and credit card (same as on my Hilton profile) but I waited to get into the room, when I probably didn't have to. The digital key never provided a key. It kept telling me to stop at the front desk. I ended up using the plastic cards again. The check out feature on the app works. The hotel is quiet. I felt safe and I'll be back.
