Staff were really friendly and helpful. Location was perfect.

Central location, good value, friendly staff, great breakfast

No on-site parking, but public car park was very close and cheap.

We felt fully welcomed at the Temperance Inn, and it is perfectly located in Ambleside as the base for walks. The breakfast in the morning was delicious, and even the biscuits kept in the room were better than other hotels we've stayed in.

Nothing really

I'm so glad we chose the Temperance Inn for our stay in Ambleside. The rooms are on the floors above the restaurant/bar, we only ate breakfast there but is was popular at all times of day. It has a nice modern but cosy feel to it, everything seemed pretty new. The room was beautiful, ours was on the top floor, where other guests were staying too, and you couldn't hear any noises from the street or the other rooms. The bathroom was spotless and very new fittings. Breakfast was great, there was fresh fruit, cereal, toast too I think (we didn't have any), unlimited tea and filter coffee, and then an item from the hot breakfast menu was included. We had the full English breakfasts - really lovely, and good for setting you up for a day in the hills. The staff we met were all very friendly and helpful, and chatted away to each other too, there was a nice atmosphere about the place like they enjoyed being there too. It was very reasonably priced considering how nice the breakfast was and how high quality the rooms etc were. It's right in the centre of Ambleside, so also handy on rainy days for a potter around the shops, and not far from the bus stop. We only stayed one night but really enjoyed our stay there and will definitely stay there again when we're back in Ambleside.

Evening meal was excellent - lovely menu and fantastic food! Staff very helpful and even put a fan in our room ready for our arrival on a scorching day. Room clean, tea and biscuits provided.

Bathroom smelt a bit damp, tiles weren’t all clean and shower didn’t drain well. Bunk beds creaked a lot but comfortable mattresses.
