Macdonald Portal Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

We travelled and parked there on our classic scooters and all catered for very well. Room was perfect. We stayed for the evening meal and breakfast, both fantastic.

We wouldn't change a thing. A very enjoyable stay and look forward to the next stay. We will be signing up for membership too soon.

The staff was extremelly helpfull. we had a problem with a Car rental company and had to find a taxi back to Machester. The staff at the front desk was there for us and we really appreciated it. We did not get to enjoy the facilities.

The WI FI signal was not very good, and we did have issues even with telephone sygnal, so that might be related.

It would not said it is 5 Stars hotel . When you check in they took your payment and gave the pieces of paper to take exam . I don’t tell you anything about the breakfast time or clean room . I went back room after being out for a day , my room was cleaned because I didn’t put the sign on . Nobody told me about it , except you have to look at on paper which they gave you . I’m not stay in hotel to take exam from hotel . So the breakfast time showed 7-10.30 on Sunday . Then my husband went to have breakfast at 10.05 , they said breakfast closed at 10.00 Am . What kinds of managing hotel do to be 5 stars . You know I have to pay 500$ per night for 3 adults . You think it is funny , it made me very unhappy and uncomfortable about it . I never recommended for my friend to stay there . It is poorly management.,

Lovely place, good location, very close to Pesto restaurant if you want more options than the hotels menu itself. Good sized rooms, with basic amenities.

We were not impressed by the menu, nothing vegetarian on the usual menu of restaurant. Breakfast buffet was absolutely shit, to the mark there's no hash browns, most things cold. Very limited options. We asked to change the room because it was ground floor overlooking the parking, almost in front of parking so everyone could see in coming and going. Very noisy surrounding families and kids running hallways, but that's obviously not the hotels fault. But when asked to change the room, we were given a room a floor above exact same location, facing the parking after being specifically asked for it. Nothing uniquely bad, but i guess service could improve in that sense.

I checked in at 9:54pm on 21-May. I was supplied with an information sheet on check-in. I tried to order Room Service. There was no In Room Dining menu available as advised in the information sheet. There was also no facility to order as advised by scanning the QR code. I went to reception about 10pm to obtain a menu. I brought it to the bar about 10:15pm ordered and paid for a Chicken Pesto sandwich. I was advised that food service was not available until 10:30pm and I said I was more than happy to wait. I waited patiently in the bar area with a soft dronk. By 11pm the order had not been served. I was then advised to go to reception to enquire on the order. There was no knowledge by the FOH of an order having been placed.

Location and ambiance were great.

A little tired in areas, ie curtains were damaged and room was a little dated, but a very comfortable nights sleep.
