The location is stunning and the views and the direct access to the waterside walks and facilities - the hotel is very comfortable and the service very friendly

Hotel was lovely. Staff very friendly. Unfortunately fellow guests not so friendly. Kept awake all night by tv noise in the room adjacent. Gave up and came home in the early hours of the morning without staying the whole night and breakfasting. Very disappointed

Nice friendly hotel. Mainly European staff who tried hard. No canopy beds now as they have cut the tops off to avoid dust gathering. Heating is from a wall mounted heater on a timer controlled by the hotel. Good warm duvet. Cooked breakfast is good but the continental is a bit short on offerings. Evening meal suffered from reheated chips/veg which were dry so we tended to eat out. Good steak though.

All round pretty good will return some time in the future

Lovely hotel and every one of the staff that I met get 10/10. Check in and out very quick and friendly. Menu was good and food was great. Wine could do with a look at- well the Pinot Grigio anyway

The hotel was okay, and looked a little tired in places, but the location made up for this. The room we had was clean, in good condition, comfortable, and had a great lakeside view (extra £). The evening meal was poor and we left most of our food. Fortunately breakfast was better. The staff were all very polite and friendly and no complaints there. Acid test - would we stay there again? Yes, but would eat out in the evening and go for the continental breakfast rather than the full English.

The room was excellent, with a lake view. Staff were concerned and charming. Breakfast was OK rather than excellent. I would return

The dressing table and the information book were dirty and did not appear to have been properly cleaned. Breakfast was not available (except in package) due to staff availability problems (general in industry). Very comfortable otherwise in stunning location on banks of Rutland Water. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful

The location of the hotel is amazing with a gate from the garden straight out to the path around the lake and we walked both ways enjoying the lovely scenery and sat watching the sheep! However the hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment and some TLC. Our bedroom on the ground floor overlooking the lake was very drab, the bathroom was in desperate need of an update and there was no aircon. Breakfast was left outside the door in a paper bag even though our visit was after all restrictions were lifted on 19th July. Reason given was that they are unable to recruit a breakfast chef, understandable in this current climate, but why we couldnt have a continental breakfast served at a table in the dining room was unclear! Having read the reviews about the hotel evening food before we arrived, we decided to book a table at a pub in Oakham town centre where we had excellent food and sat in their secret garden, great on such a lovely summer evening. Overall we loved the location of the hotel but will not be returning.

The only problem we had was with the restaurant Maitre D we thought he was rude and should learn to be polite to his customers. In fact, the Manager wasn’t that much better. All I asked from him was there are a brochure or leaflet on the area. No smiles or “can I help you”. Otherwise a lovely stay.
