Hotel was beautiful building and staff really helpful.

Visited in very hot weather and unfortunately room extremely hot with only 1 fan.

Lack of air conditioning

Lovely hotel, well decorated, clean, good breakfast. Staff were lovely.

It was an oven! Good ac in the bar but in the room the window barely opened and didn't stay open which was awful on the hottest day of the year. We had to fill the bath with cold water and keep hopping into it

The temperature in my room was positively dangerous. I was shown other rooms I could use instead, but the temperature there was similarly far too hot. The staff told me that the inadequacies of the hotel in dealing with high temperatures had been pointed out to the hotel owners on several occasions, but they refused to do anything. I managed about 3 hours sleep in the course of the night by wrapping myself in wet towels. In order to avoid potential tragedies, the hotel should be avoided during the summer period until this problem is solved.

This was a return visit, one of many over the last few years … and the next is booked for 4 weeks time - which speaks for itself.

Lack of air conditioning in the bedroom

We attended a presentation evening last week and the se tmeal, although fairly priced did have shortcomings. My starter of a mackerel pate was extremely salty and when I requested some extra bread pieces (only two the size of a 50p coin with a large portion of pate), I was told there was no more! After the first course was served the waiters proceeded to bring napkins to the tables! BLTN. The main courses were fairly good but my wife had extra, where the pastry toppings to the mushroom 'tart', not a tart, had been made separately on sheets of greaseproof paper. We knew this as it had not been removed before plating up! A complaint was made and a quick apology returned. I would have thought that this would have invoked a bit more than that. If we had been on an individual booking, I would have refuse to pay for this but as we had paid in advance , that want going to happen. Not even an offer of a free drink!! The room was comfortable an f there was entertainment proved by a male singer doing covers. I assume he looked good, sounded ok but he was completely in the dark, no stage but no reason why a couple of spotlights could not have been erected. Expensive bar prices on top. This is such an iconic building in the town with comfortable areas in and out, its a pity it falls short.
