Sun Island Boutique Villas & Spa Seminyak

Awesome location! Bustling street just outside the villa complex, however it’s so peaceful as soon as you walk into the property. Complete privacy in your villa or sit by the main pool and have a cocktail or two, chatting with the super friendly staff. Really couldn’t ask for more. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. 😀

I liked the privacy and the pool within the villa space. The pathway to the villas is delightful and a lovely feature. Loved the water cooler, very much appreciated. Liked the afternoon tea service.

My first negative review unfortunately. From the moment we walked into the courtyard we realised we were going to be disappointed. Middle of the day and we weren't getting any sun on the pool; large glass sliders were difficult to open & lock; the tile floors had a greasy film on them (my partner slipped over & hurt his knee within the first two hours); there was a septic smell permeating through the villa; the bidet sprayer had faeces on it and we had to request someone to clean it; the bathroom wall tiles had the same greasy film on them (enough for a game of tic tac toe); the advertised 'kitchen' had no glasses, plates or cutlery. There was however a drying up cloth but this was so stained you wouldn't use it (when I took it to reception they said it was a rag and must have been put there by mistake, but it was ironed and folded up nicely in the kitchen drawer, so I don't think it was a mistake). Overall the resort is looking very tired and in need of maintenance and upgrades. We were told when we checked in that the owner of the resort wasn't spending any money after the losses he endured during the COVID pandemic. This doesn't mean however that the cleanliness should suffer. After our first night we advised reception we were leaving. They did offer us an upgrade to another villa, but when we looked at that it too had the same septic smell and greasy tiles so we declined. The manager at reception said that they would refund us three nights, which we didn't expect but were very grateful for. Fast forward seven weeks and the promised refund has not been received, and my messages go unanswered. I actually phoned and was told that their Finance department was still working on it (I won't hold my breath). I contacted Customer Service at Booking.com and they tried to get an answer to no avail. They said that they couldn't do anything because we paid the resort, instead of paying through Booking.com.

The property was great. Our two bedroom Villa was very clean and spacious. Yes there were some things that could do with some maintenance but we loved the villa and the private pool. The location was fantastic and even though on a main road, the accommodation was quiet. The staff were absolutely amazing.

Great location, staff friendly and helpful. Allowed a late check out at no extra cost. Good breakfast.

Cutlery and a couple of glasses would have been good, we were given some from the restaurant so not a real concern.
