The Stromness Hotel

Hotellet er centralt beliggende. Værelset med udsigt helt i top. Personalet var meget imødekommende og venlige.

Der var ikke styr på morgenmads-situationen. Vi oplevede, at der ikke var stillet brød frem, der manglede dybe tallerkner og skeer. Men efter påtale blev det bedre. Yoghurt kvaliteten skiftede fra at være god til absolut mindre god. Vi blev ikke tilbudt spejlæg, men fik det, da jeg spurgte om det var muligt. Al morgenmaden, incl varme drikke, var 100% selvbetjening. Termostaten til vandet i bruseren fungerede ikke, da vi første gang ville bruge bruseren! Men efter påtale blev den straks udskiftet. - og vi kunne derefter tage et behageligt brusebad!

The staff were very helpful and friendly, immediately gave us a more accessible room, carried our cases, and responded immediately to requests. The evening meals were exceptionally good, even the cheaper options were wonderful. And the location is great, with a view over the harbour from the dining room and easy access from the Northlink ferry. The main village street, Hoy ferry and bus station are within a few yards' walk.

The cleanliness was variable - the bedroom was spotless and in good decorative order, but the ensuite bathroom has seen better days and the pipework was dirty. likewise the landings were well maintained but the ground floor and main staircase could have been better maintained. The hotel is built into the rock so only the entrance hall is on the ground floor. We understand that there was a functioning lift until recently but this is now no longer in use.

Good location, pleasant and helpful staff

Room layout was not good, didn’t like the fact that the bedside light was in the middle and only one light. Breakfast was quite poor, scrambled eggs were grey and unappealing, the granola was soft

Het diner was kwalitatief matig. En jammer dat er geen wijn geschonken werd.

£188 for a tiny , dated , tired room. Uncomfortable bed , cobwebs hanging from the ceiling , the only thing smaller than the bedroom was the bathroom…. Ridiculously over priced , mainly because of the captive trade on Orkney , but no need for the poor condition and quality.
