Oaks Hervey Bay Resort and Spa

We were there for 2 hours. It was advertised as a non-smoking property. Within 5 mins of being in our room our balcony and apartment had filled up with cigarette smoke wafting up from below. The balcony was enclosed with walls either side so it was trapped. We closed the balcony doors and put on the air conditioning however it sounded like a 50 year old tractor struggling up a hill, really loud! We rang down and reception pretended they would deal with it “if we could confirm where the smoke was coming from” etc. Turns out they knew. They also knew that the chain smoking person who lived there was a private owner and there was nothing they could do. We asked to be moved. No, booked out. So after another 5 cigarettes, sore throats and sinus headaches we said we would like to leave and after some stress inducing delay and strange excuses about the Manager being on holiday and having to email for a password, we were eventually refunded. We paid for the most expensive Premier Ocean View apartment and it wasn’t really! Sure was a long way away, you needed binoculars. Never again.

Great property in a lovely location. Great apartment with lovely furnishings and a very comfortable bed. Had everything we could possibly need for our short stay.

Didn’t like we didn’t get the room I had booked and the new apartment had a shower over a bath. Very dangerous getting in and out off and water went everywhere. Quite a slip hazard.
