Cavendish Hotel

Restaurant needs better management - service was disorganized but food was good.

Arrived at the hotel at 5pm had help taking the luggage to our beautiful suite which had a four poster bed and two sofas tea and coffee making facilities even a box of shortbread biscuits and a jug of milk in the fridge. The bathroom was huge and had two showers over the bath - heated towel rail and soft towels. The mattress on the bed was so comfortable. It was very clean all the surfaces free of dust and the soft monogrammed carpet soft to walk on. The meals in the Gallery Restaurant were tasty but a limited menu that did not change over the three nights so we ate in the Garden cafe for our last meal with a much wider if more mundane menu - all beautifully cooked and hot. The service from the staff was very attentive.

Good location in heart of the National Park with hiking trails outside the front door. Good views across fields into Chatsworth estate and lovely 17th/18th buildings sensitively decorated. But no air conditioning in the hottest month of the year, and no staff knowledge of how to control temperatures by closing curtains etc., during the day, and turning off bath towel heating rails etc. The main dinner menu was "heart-attack central", 1960's old-fashioned, and patronized not by the slim. The staff were nice, somewhat obsequious, but overly prowling with not much to do when times were slack. Breakfast was punctuated by nearby noisy vacuum cleaning and the strong smell of bleach. Two boiled eggs cost as much as a full English Breakfast despite 1/8th the labour and cooking gas.

just a one night stay to treat ourselves. great location, friendly staff, huge room. no complaints.

Great to visit Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. Close to restaurants.

The hotel is lovely and the staff are all really friendly and helpful. The food at dinner was delicious. My only complaint would be that the breakfast, which we realised after was not included in the price, was extortionate and not very good.

We were attending our Granddaughter's christening and the hotel was a very relaxing place to enjoy the whole weekend.

This is a beautiful country hotel on the Chatsworth Estate. We stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed our time there. Everything we needed was provided. Nice staff, excellent breakfast, choice of 2 restaurants. The bed was as comfortable as could be and the room elegant and inviting. I would positively look forward to staying there again.

Beautiful hotel, set right in the heart of peak district. Not much around but thats what you want it for! Large room sizes. Food for Vegetarians was limited, however cute italian restaurant right opposite hotel.
