"Nice short stay, pleasant"

9.0

It’s a nice old hotel, some cracks in the walls but otherwise well kept. Clean place. Staff are nice and friendly. They have a happy hour with complimentary cheese and biscuits between 6-7pm which we missed as we had booked dinner out. They give you a 10% discount off food and drink at The George which is a few steps away which is nice of them. Breakfast is nice, mix of cooked breakfasts, cereal, porridge , fruits etc. Bathroom was clean but water pressure was low due to the age of the hotel plumbing. Our room was nice and we had a nice view. TV in room, kettle and tea/coffee and biscuits.

The high charge of parking, they have their own car park and it is £10 for 24hrs but it was only 20hours when we paid for it, not sure why. There is cheaper parking elsewhere close by which we only found out the next day.

"The staff were exceptional. The beds were very comfortable and beautiful sheets. Breakfast was very good. Would definite"

9.0

The hotel was a little quirky. In some places it needed a good clean but there are renovations going on so can excuse that.

It just looked a little tired in places but again there are renovations going on.

"Excellent value for money, helpful friendly staff , loverly room"

8.0

The location was very good a parking directly behind the hotel was a great bonus. Ok you have to pay £10.00 on Ringo to park but the convenience of not having to find somewhere in town is well worth it. Breakfast was very good considering the price paid for the room

The bar was limited in choice but several decent pubs in close proximity if you want a nightcap

"Lovely location, really comfortable and clean room. Would definitely stay again"

Perfect location

The decoration is tired. The carpet on the stairs, cracks and peeling wallpaper could do with a bit of attention

"Needs a refurb sadly"

6.0

Stayed for one night at the Lookout which apparently is the sister hotel of The George in Rye. The front of the hotel, has no kerb appeal as desperately needs a coat of paint. Sadly dead flowers when we arrived but just needed a few pots of flowers outside to give the hotel an uplift. The hotel at the back is very dated and needing a paint refurb too and the rooms below us (we were room 12 & 14) they had a balcony which I definitely would not have sat out on (even on a nice sunny day!) as falling to pieces. Our rooms were small but ok and met our needs but the hallway and stairs definitely needs new carpets as almost threadbare in parts. Breakfast was ok. Coffee was nice and hot but wish there was nicer bread! Few choices for continental and hot cooked breakfast. On reception and working at breakfast was Tarek who was running the place single handed it would appear! Nothing was too much trouble and found him extremely friendly and helpful. Great asset to the hotel! Overall, great location and could be a good hotel too with a refurb!
