The Grand Hotel - Heritage Grand

Das Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya ist eine echte Attraktion für sich. Es liegt zentral auf einem wunderschönen, gepflegten Anwesen und lässt einen direkt über 100 Jahre zurück versetzt fühlen. Das Interior und insbesondere die Weihnachtsdekoration sind atemberaubend. Am besten gefallen hat uns die Piano Bar am Abend mit toller Live Band und sehr stilvollem Ambiente. Auch der High Tea ist empfehlenswert.

Das Hotel ist sehr groß und beherbergt viele Großfamilien. Dies verläuft sich tagsüber gut - beim Frühstücksbuffet bekommt man es jedoch zu spüren: es herrscht ein großes Chaos, da sich alle Gäste in einem großen Raum tummeln und im Weg umgehen. Zusätzlich werden alle Getränke außer schwarzer Kaffee und schwarzer Tee extra berechnet. Auch das Gym und die Sauna erfordern eine extra Gebühr.

Matelas trop mou à mon goût . Quelques jours avant l’arrivée , ils ont prélevé 90%, pourquoi pas 100%ce qui éviterait de sortir la cb. Surtout que j’avais 2 chambres : ils n’ont prélevé le solde que d’une chambre et ensuite une dame n’arrêtais pas de nous tél pour un solde 20euros! Sachant qu’on devait payer 2 repas, 1 pot avant de partir ! Quand je suis allée à la réception , ils se sont confondus en excuses mais leur stagiaire fut saoulante . Et au petit déjeuner mon époux voulait un expresso et non un café américain , on lui a dit que c’était payant ! Dommage vu la classe de l’hôtel. Nous y étions au moment de Noël, donc du monde et donc certainement du personnel intérimaire . Mais je recommande , on est vraiment dans un hôtel luxe Anglais colonnial. Un charme fou, c’est très très classe .

I am frustrated and disappointed to have waited 45 minutes for check-in, especially when it appears that others have been processed in just 15 minutes. I can't help but wonder if this is merely a coincidence or if there is an underlying bias at play, as all the others waiting are white and my party is from Hong Kong. This experience has left me feeling disheartened and distressed. I sincerely hope for greater fairness and efficiency in their service in the future.

The sheer elegance and eye for detail. Staff were of the highest calibre ready to please and cater to every request. A real old school charm about the property. Recommended with highest satisfaction rating.
