i always remember the breathtaking view of the sea when sun rising and setting.staff are friendly and helpful for guiding you to explore the best tourist attraction also not far from Funchal.

Welcoming, friendly and accommodating, interested staff. Attention was paid to all details. The hotel situation is very maritime and ideal for competent swimmers. There are views to offshore islands and the sunrise. The surrounding area, although suburban, is clean and tidy with good facilities for dining and access to island activity providers.

The hotel is close to the airport at just 20 euro for a taxi ride which was ideal for the 3 day break taken. The terrace area facing the Atlantic is on a steep incline with the cliff terraced with various sun bed spots and a couple of small pools to cool off in. I would not recommend this for young children (under 10). The gym at the sister hotel was well equiped but doesn't open until 10am which was unfortunate as I prefer to visit the gym in the cooler morning and before breakfast rather than during the heat of the day. The hotel was well located for restaurants and there's lots of cghoice locally. Breakfast in the hotel was excellent. Overall we enjoyed the stay and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Imagine a dated, shabby 3star all inclusive in 1980 Mexico, Dominican Republic or Cuba. Need I say more? The area of Canico in Madeira is absolutely horrible...the island is gorgeous....stay anywhere else!

No tea or coffee in room. Bathing areas in poor repair - broken glass panel with shattered glass left for whole week we were there. Fences broken. Ugly concrete pier. Friendly bar with great views.

We had a very enjoyable time at Hotel Rocamar. Our whole stay was very relaxing, just what we wanted. We had a seaview room, with nice views immediately onto the sea from its clifftop position. The room was good and spacious, although we hadn't realised the room would only have twin beds. The hotel seemed to be busy but was often very quiet in the daytime, as i think quite a few people went out each day to explore the island. But it meant that we could relax each day and make the most of the facilities, including the pool and sauna right next door at the sister hotel which could be reached via the hotels terrace. We went to Madiera to switch off and relax and Rocamar allowed us to do just that. I'd definitely go back

We had a lovely time, the hotel was in a nice area with shops and restaurants within walking distance. Staff were very friendly and helpful and made our stay one to remember. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will return again in the near future.

The setting is magnificent, right on the rocks leading down to the sea. Sunrise over the Desertas islands in January is not to be missed for the winter-sun enthusiast. Understand we were lucky that the weather was dry and largely calm throughout our stay. Some of the design features may not please all, the hotel being about 25 years old. However it is a well-maintained/clean establishment.
