Perfect location, nice 10-15 min walk, past Cathedral, into town. Drinks by river in hotel gardens. Spaciousness and style of room 8B. Friendly staff - really nice stay.

It is an oldy world hotel with lots of character, which is great, just needs some tlc to stop parts looking shabby and worn.

Good varied breakfast, comfortable bed, plenty of parking, great location.

Room was looking quite tired. External doors locked at 11pm and took several attempts to contact the duty staff member on the given phone number.

Location excellent.

We stayed in room 8 b and although the room was ver big an comfortable we stayed over a particulary hot weekend and unfortunately none of the windows opened to give us some ventilation.

Nice old room, friendly and helpful staff. Lovely location by river.

Room a bit stuffy - hot. Scrambled egg at breakfast was reconstituted, not from fresh eggs. Bah.

Not very clean, windows covered in bird poo in bedroom, deco dated, bit dusty

Absolutely beautiful setting by the river and just far enough away from the city to be peaceful. Most of the staff we met were delightful, polite and welcoming, and when we needed to change rooms did it without fuss. Bedroom was comfortable with the addition of fans as we were there in temperatures of 34 degrees! Breakfast catered for pretty much every taste, and was plentiful. Beds comfortable, towels good and large and handwash etc provided. Lovely to be able to walk into town via some very pretty homes.

I didn’t particularly like having to pay for parking, but it was £5 for the stay. And sadly a little of the outdoor spaces at the back of the hotel rooms was grubby, covered in cobwebs and we were unable to clean the two seats and table outside our room. Windows were covered in cobwebs and flies, and the net curtains in our room were grubby. I suspect they are doing up rooms as they go, and we were in an older one. The Wooden step outside the door onto the garden had almost completely rotted away.
