"Not As Great As It Seems!!!"

4.0

The hotel is a very old hotel. And yes it is very colonial style but I needs some upgrades. There was no wifi service, the phone in the room had no way of contacting the front desk. The front desk help was so distracted all the time, when I went to ask a question she seemed like she didnt know the answer or she really didnt want to help me. The restaurant is not great either. Way over priced for the food they offer. The breakfast buffet was semi ok. Overall I would not recommend this hotel. Plus Granada is super hot.

"Exceptional outdoor pool"

8.0

This was the first hotel we stayed in Nicaragua, it exceeded our expectations, knowing that we could not expect western standards. Very friendly staff and service. They do not advertise their pool as much as it deserves to - it is huge and feels like an oasis - exceptional outdoor space.

Pro's- Close to city, restaurants and the lake. Very quiet area. Con's- The bath-tubs are peeling ( I looked at 3 rooms before I found one that was good)and there is not enough hot water (should have known) to fill the tub. I had to clean the tub myself as there was a definite grime ring..The room had a smell, it was not overpowering as long as the air was on. We think because its an old building and knowing how these older cities are it had to do with the septic?? Now this all being said..I could have asked the front desk to reclean the tub and I know they would have done so. Also when I was not satisfied with my first room they quickly let me look at other rooms and allowed me to even have an upgraded room at no additional cost. The pool is one of the best and biggest from all the other hotels we looked at while in town and the location is far enough away from the city to not have noise but close enough to walk(2 blocks) to everything you need. Breakfast was filling, eggs cooked to order...yogurt, , gallo pinto(rice, beans)some sausage, fruit, juice, coffee. Both days a little different selection.I did like the hotel I live in Costa Rica so I know a 3 or 4 start hotel in C.A. is never going to be the same as the US so you have to remember that:) I will say the rooms on the internet page was not the type of room we had so maybe those are remodeled and upgraded, ours was in another section.

"The night of arrival"

8.0

For a stop over the hotel suited us well. It is located halfway from our final driving destination. We did not want to drive through the night so we were happy to stay in Granada. The people are friendly. the rooms are comfortable and clean.

"Not like in the pictures"

Great location in a very cool town but the hotel room was dark and run down. Dead cockroach in the bathroom had not been cleaned out when I arrived. Shower was terrible.

"Can't beat the location!"

8.0

I stayed at Hotel Granada for two nights in August 2013. The hotel is much bigger than it looks from the street. The location is wonderful. Right on the cazada but at the end toward the river so it is quiet when you want to relax and get some rest, but a very short walk up the street to the restaurants, shops and bars. The room was extremely clean and spacious and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We had issues with our safe and someone on the staff showed up immediately to help us. The complimentary breakfast with our stay was a nice touch. The bartender in the Lounge was very friendly and provided good service. The pool area was wonderful. It thunderstormed the day we stayed there so there was an issue with the power being out for about 4 hours, but that was the only downside of the stay. I would definitely stay at Hotel Granada again if back in Nicaragua. For the price, it was an excellent value.
