The grounds are lovely

Unfortunately it was very busy during our stay and breakfast was moved to another room. The food was cold. It was a far walk to our rooms.

Very interesting building, had a lot of history. Staff were super friendly. We had a lovely view from the bedroom as well.

Signage needs to be clearer.

The suite was FANTASTIC! Great space and worth the price, main restaurant was amazing and very tasty food.

I thought, for the price, I was booking a high-end country hotel. In fact it was a very large 'event' hotel. We arrived on Saturday evening amid a raucous wedding reception. There were several steps to be negotiated with heavy luggage. There was no offer of help. The rooms had no air conditioning. The windows could not be opened. There was a fan.... There was a tea & coffee room but no one had bothered to put fresh milk there for the morning. The hotel was worth less than half the price I paid.

Lovely location

Room was very small and there were areas within the hotel that could do with a touch up as they were starting to look a little worn.

Breakfast was reasonable but there were long queues for hot drinks.

Arrived at 3:00 PM, but despite the large grounds, we had difficulty finding a parking space. Eventually, we parked and went to reception, only to face a long queue. It took over 40 minutes to book in. When we finally got to check-in, the computer went down. It took a while for the system to reboot. Then the card machine failed to read my debit card. We finally checked in and were given directions to the room. The room was a fair distance from reception with 3 flights of steps to negotiate. The room was located on the 1st floor, but the lift call button was not functioning. We had to climb two flights of stairs with our luggage to get to the room. Both my wife and I are in our seventies, but no assistance was offered or available to help with baggage. The room was clean and tidy but felt damp and very cold. Our stay was in early June, but unfortunately, the weather was wet, cold, and windy. The hotel did not help because every external door was held wide open, and the corridors felt as though there was a 50-mile-an-hour gale blowing through. We decided to go for a drink, but the bar was crowded with nowhere available to sit. In the evening, we had the buffet dinner, which was reasonable. We went back to our room and had to request additional bedding as we were so cold. In the morning, we had breakfast and checked out. Perhaps the weather didn't help, but from our experience, we would not recommend this hotel.
