Old world charm with modern amenities. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The gentlemen was very friendly and helpful. Gave recommendations for places to visit nearby and the local brewery was very good. Will definitely stay here when in the area again.

It is a charming place with a lot of history. It is near Shenandoah national park. So if those two things matter, everything else is somewhat secondary. Don’t expect five star hotel experience.

"I Had High Hopes for this B&B"

6.0

My husband and I planned a week in Virginia to visit family outside Richmond and then spend some time in the Shenandoah Valley. We were looking for someplace off the beaten path to spend two nights with easy access to Skyline Drive and Cave Hill Farm fit the bill. We have stayed in numerous B&B's over the years, both inside and outside the US, and they generally have a more homey and personal ambiance than you will find in any hotel. I also loved the idea of the farm morphing through various businesses over many years in the same family. The setting of the B&B is somewhat remote and very peaceful, but still not far from the ‘town’ area. There is a small ‘museum’ in the basement of the house that is quite interesting. Sadly, the couple that is serving as Innkeepers, Jeffrey & Brittany, while pleasant, do not seem cutout for the Innkeeper role. They live on the main floor, and while the guests can knock on their door for help, they pretty much disappear after breakfast. Breakfast was nothing special, certainly not on par of most B&Bs. We arrived at the B&B later than expected (after dark), so rather than going to the family run brewery nearby for dinner, we decided to eat some leftovers we brought with us. We asked for some microwaveable plates which were provided. However, the microwave was very dirty and there were no napkins in the dining room. We were able to get some paper towels out of the powder room to cover the plates during cooking. We stayed in the Gold Room which was nicely furnished, but lacking in some necessities. The toilet paper roll was about half used, and no additional roll was provided. There was no bathmat for the shower, and the shampoo in the wall mounted dispenser was close to running out. There were no cups in the bathroom either. The lighting in the room was poor, which made it difficult to read in bed. Electric outlets were lacking, so I was not able to use my CPAP machine because the only outlet near the bed was not easily accessible, and I’m not sure if there was even room for another electrical cord. There were only two other rooms occupied the two nights we were there, and I heard similar complaints from at least one of the other guests. I generally try to peek at other rooms in an establishment for future reference (in case of a return visit). Several unoccupied rooms were left open after the previous guests checked out, and they sat uncleaned for the duration of our stay. I would love to see this historical home succeed as a B&B, but I’m afraid that may be impossible without a little more care and attention from the innkeepers.

"Fun stay"

10.0

We truly enjoyed our stay at Cave Hill Bed and Breakfast this weekend. Breakfast was wonderful and the hosts were very nice and super informative of the history, which I loved. It was an expecting of fun and gathering with friends and family and Cave Hill provided all. We are going to pass this by our daughter-in-law-to be for a beautiful wedding venue. Thanks to our hosts Brittany and Jeff. Thank you.
