"Needing some TLC"

6.0

The inn was weathered and in need of a makeover. Thinking that summer has just passed and winter is the busy season, I would have thought things would have been updated.

"Do not stay here!"

2.0

I normally love staying at B&Bs and little places like this, but this one was the exception. This place looks as though it is falling apart- extremely run down and not kept up. The front porch uneven and sagging. I would have been ok with that, but when I went into my room it was even worse. The smell in the hallway was fresh but the room itself smelled musty. The bed linens had not been changed and were covered in dark hairs and had stains. It was disgusting. There was a closet in the corner of the room covered with a blanket- inside were dirty pillows and linens that smelled like urine. The bathroom was large and appeared clean, but the tub had a giant crack in the bottom. The tub had a clear bath mat glued on top of the crack to prevent leakage, but I felt like it could give way. There was a thermostat in the room with a sign saying not to adjust the temperature and you could not adjust it at all. The temperature dipped down low that night and it was freezing in there with no way to heat it up. No breakfast offered. No cell service in the area, but they did have wifi. The owner seemed nice but I only saw him once when I checked in. The owner reserves the front parking lot for himself so I had to walk farther with all of my bags to my room. Keypad locks on the outer doors were broken so anyone could have gotten in, did not feel safe.

We had to leave the hotel immediately because there’s were 40 dead bugs on the bedspread, when we feel the bedspread back they were 20 dead bugs on the top sheet when we peeled the topsheet back there was 15 dead bugs on the under sheet. The guy around the hotel was friendly and said he would change the sheets for us but at that point we had seen enough.

"Very misleading"

2.0

Pub is closed most of the year, which I learned when I called the desk inside of the inn. The upstairs is very hot in the summer - a small a.c. unit would have made a huge difference. Not a very pleasant stay overall.

The Inn is unique. Basic rooms. Ours did have a brass bed with bold flowered wall paper. The bathroom was tiny but we managed.\.

"SALT ASH INN DISASTER FOR THIS TRAVELER "

2.0

Never Again. After 5 hours of driving to visit the Coolidge Homestead, I stopped at 5pm at Salt Ash Inn. I parked in small gravel lot in front of Inn but was disturbed by signs saying Private Property do not enter. On other side of hotel is a small patch of dirt like a walking path and another sign in front of garage that also says NO Parking. I figure Id go inside and ask. There was no one to ask. A sign was left for me welcoming me and a key to my room. No One was at the Inn...the bar had chairs up on table. On my welcome note was a number to call if I had questions. I dialed number and I was then asked for an access code. I was very angry and hungry. I walked outside to my car and saw 2 young men coming out of a barn like structure which I thought was attached to the Inn. I asked if they worked at the Salt Ash Inn and they said No and informed me the Inn was closed for the season and told me I could not park where I did. I asked "Where am I supposed to park?" and they said they didn't know, but I can't park there. So I am out the 74 dollars I paid for the room because I was not going to stay if I could not even be sure of where I could park and staying in what seemed like an abandoned place. VERY DISAPPOINTED is an under statement.

"As advertised."

8.0

Room was just as advertised, good price for the area. I was concerned at first that the room might stay cold (50 degrees upon arrival), but the updated heating system worked well. Would have liked a bath mat for the floor.

The house was cold overall, but they wouldn’t let you turn up the heater past a certain point. Really cold.

"perfect place to crash on a ski weekend"

10.0

The owner, Al, was a super cool dude. Very friendly and made me feel very welcome and at home. The bar was a nice touch too! Just a little noisy on nights the bar is open and weekends. I had a room under a staircase which was extremely loud, but then again, you have to expect as much when you're getting to stay in an awesome old building with lots of character. Other rooms I'm sure were more quiet. Overall I was very happy with my stay
