Hotel Palazzo Cavalieri

Terrible experience. I booked a Superior Triple Room for almost 250€ (including city tax) for one night. The room we were given smelled humid and stuffy, and we could not open the windows because they were directly facing the neighbors’ interior courtyard, with barely any natural light coming through (see photo attached). The lights of the beside table and of the shower were also not working properly. When I raised these concerns with the receptionist, she did not apologize and instead told me that the original room that I saw photos of on Booking was “not a good room because the stairs are too steep”. When I highlighted that it’s false advertising for me to book a room with city views and to instead get a room where I could not open the windows to maintain my privacy, the receptionist responded that Siracusa is an old city and so it’s normal to not have city views, therefore not addressing the issue of false advertising and the steep price I paid for a room of very low quality. Throughout this conversation, the receptionist showed a complete lack of professionalism.

The room was cool and spacious, with comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel puts on short events for guests throughout the week, one of which was a wine tasting hosted by Giancarlo which was great. Location is perfect to explore and enjoy Ortigia Island. Everything was in walking distance. Rooms serviced and made up every day. Aircon was also excellent, worked perfectly. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

There’s only a couple of bits being picky. The shower screen leaked so made the bathroom floor wet during every shower. There was also no tea / coffee making facilities in the room.

Lack of facilities in the room, such as a coffee machine, kettle and an iron. There is no soundproofing in the rooms and you could hear neighbours opening the doors and moving luggage around.
