The Bay Area was beautiful! However the rooms are very dated. No AC and the walk to the beach was further then the other properties.

Beautiful property with a ton of amenities. The beach was lovely to watch the sunset. Restaurant on site was awesome.

Went during the heat wave, no AC in room was the only issue.

Friendly front desk staff. The carpet in the room was filthy, the room was poorly maintained, poorly appointed and not clean. Kitchen light did not work. It’s our third time staying here and we were very disappointed.

The rooms were poorly stocked and did not have air conditioners. They didn't even have ceiling fans. The only window was a small sliding door with no screen. It was sweltering. We had half a roll of toilet paper and only two coffee pods for a two person, two night stay. We were so hot and miserable the second night we left at 5am.

This place has all you need, on top of being beautiful! On the contrary to other reviews, I think they communicate their facilities very clearly online. Service was also great from the front desk, to the restaurant, to the activity rentals. Pacific Shores has an absolutely beautiful sunset location too. The rooms are more on the dated side maybe but the theyre comfortable and efficient (we were in the suite so we loved the kitchen and washer/dryer!!). Our whale watching tour was also canceled due to winds so we were so thankful for the kayak rentals they do for free. We saw a couple of seals breaching out of the water and the view around the bay overall was so nice. Would love to visit again.

The rooms were a bit tired and having no AC in the rooms at all is dated. The island regularly hits ~30C in the summer these days and with the recent fires keeping any windows open was not an option. With some work could be quite nice.

-room was very hot with no crossbreeze. the only way to cool the room down was to leave the room door open. -walls were paper thin, we could hear every conversation next door -the room was dark as there was no way for the sunshine to get into the room given the buildings layout -the bathroom sink was cracked and there was toothpaste on the cupboard -pillows felt like they were filled with foam chips -restaurant wasn't open for breakfast and the nearest place to eat breakfast needed a car to get to -older furniture with lots of scruff marks

I found the bed awfully uncomfortable. I have some health challenges and the temperature outside was over 80 degrees each day with NO air conditioning! I couldn’t believe that an establishment of this caliber had no air conditioning. I found a beat up old fan in the closet I dragged out but it merely blew hot air around while I tossed and turned on the hardest mattress I think I’ve ever slept on. . I paid for 5 nights and stayed one. Never even asked for a refund because everything I read was no refunds!! I left and then paid for a room in a 3 star hotel where the bed was very comfortable and they had air conditioning! Although it doesn’t list air in their literature they really should make you aware of it prior to check in so you can cancel if need be. They were in a heat wave so they knew what the weather forecast was. I also paid for all 5 days and received 4 bottles of water. I couldn’t find any restaurants on site but there could have been. Didn’t see any signage of such. Just an all around bad experience at Pacific Shores in Nanaimo! Was hopeful that it would be a nice relaxing stay on the water but was none of that.

We love Pacific shores, we have been many times as the accommodation and location suited our family. The improvements on the rooms are great and adding a spa is amazing.

No air conditioning is an issue, the fans provided are not powerful enough and the heat in summer impacts your comfort and sleep. , The discomfort of the pull out beds is a significant issue to my family also. ,
