Hotel Palma Real

Average to lower end resort. Definitely ok for a single traveller like myself. Excellent location right in Varadero. As an FYI there is a huge difference between high season with a great many Canadian visitors and low season in the summer. In the summer, the resort hosts many locals for short vacations and let’s say some NA visitors may find them pushy, especially at the buffet. I heard a lot of complaints from fellow travellers.

This is a stunning hotel. The room had a beautiful view that looked out at the ocean. The management was excellent. I will stay there again

we loved this place so much, we were there in feb 17 and feb 18, both times we absolutely loved it, would love to go back BUT sunwing cancelled LaCeiba for 2019, hope to see everyone again some day, Noah, excellent buffet manager, sorry i can't remember the chef 's name but no complaints whatsoever, my room cleaning lady was the best, really wish i could remember her name too, (older lady in blocks 300 and 400) everything was terrific, the evening bartenders were awesome, always remembered my allergy to lime , thanks Samir (hope i spelled it right), please don't let the day shift put the lime in the blenders ( was so sick one day , we didn't know they were doing this till it was too late) the a la cartes were excellente, salute to the chef and manager, can't wait to return. i am really hoping Sunwing brings back or another airline picks up this resort, i really really want to go back

Some of the villas don't have water on the toilets or they are broken the personnel at the pool is nagging if you enter with a shirt on the pool is sad that you pay so much for so little service and the public areas are divine don't get me wrong however is the lack of interest of the staff that makes this resort a place that I can't recommend to my costumers because they will be super disappointed with the overall experience

Nothing bad to say about this place at all. While not super luxurious it was very comfortable. The food is very good without long lineups. The side trips offered are all very good and well worth the money

It was little bit far from expected, but in a beautiful location if going for pleasure. Not adequate for business. Believe that because it is low season, hotel was pretty empty.

The villa we had was clean and fully equiped. It was less than a 5 minutes walk from the beach and 5 minutes moto to the main square. We had access to the resorts facilities too. We had pool in front of the villa. For the price, it was good!

The facility was a bit old, the staff was great overall.

On Jan 22/18, we three women landed at the Palma Real Resort in La Cieba and found ourselves in a wonderful villa just a few minutes walk to all main events , lobby , cafeteria and the beach etc. We had two separate bedrooms (3 beds in all) a kitchen dining area, living room and a washer and dryer-a first for us. Those turned out to be very helpful as we had arrived during a rainy spell. We were also able to help out a family who needed these resources. We found the staff very helpful and polite, always willing to help us out. When household saw we had no coffee for our drip pot, we suddenly were given a pound of ground. It was the first resort in many years where we never saw a bug in our accommodations. We had a small but lovely patio and garden where we hung up a hummingbird feeder and soon had two regular takers! It rained daily with one huge storm that prohibited swimming in the ocean, due to debris, but the pool, grounds etc. were better than well maintained. Consider a villa if you go with children! The wild flowers around were spectacular and we went to the field a few times and picked ourselves a beautiful bouquet! As one of us was over 80 yrs, we were touched when a guard thought she was lost and accompanied her back to what he knew to be our villa. The Oceanside was cleaned daily when the debris started coming in and those fellows were very hard workers and most pleasant. They even took a moment to bring me some coconut water, fresh from a tree by the beach. The food was adequate and varied but not spectacular in taste. The restaurant service was minimal so often we went for our own beer or water. The drinks were the most disappointing of variables. wine(acidic) and alcohol (a few very basic choices and no fun drinks like a mojito or decent pino colada) We had been in Honduras before and had thankfully brought our own wine and alcohol (whisky, aperitif) to suit our palates. You are allowed to bring in 5 litres from Canada. The resort sits close to a mountain hat hugged the clouds and sent us rain almost daily in our two week period. There was good wifi available in the lobby which was spacious and comfortable.

We vacationed with friends (2 couples) and had a beautifully relaxing time at Palma Real. The rooms were clean, the food was great and the staff were very friendly. We had no trouble finding a lounge either on the beach or at the pool. We did have some issues with hot water the first couple of days, but the generator was being fixed. After that all was good...and even though we were at the far end of the resort (Section E) the water was nice and hot! It is a smaller resort, but covers a lot of property and not far to walk to the buffet from the opposite end of the resort. It was nice walking the beach and we could go beyond the resort property with no trouble (although we didn't go too much farther). The water of the Caribbean was a great temperature and could be quite wavy due to the wind. All in all a very enjoyable trip! I would recommend if you are looking for a quieter resort and relaxing vacation.
