Authentic, historic site surrounded by amazing jungle gardens

Location and ‘jungle’ ambiance. Our cottage was very sweet and special. Most staff were very friendly but about half of those working at reception were not very helpful or cheerful. Dinner quality was good, though the menu was limited when staying for several days.

Some (50%) reception staff were unhelpful and lacked proactivity, more keen to play with their phones. Some others were very good. Breakfast quality was very poor. The fresh fruit was tasteless and lacked variety; cereals were cheap and limited in range (some customers brought their own); breads were poor quality and pastries very bad indeed. Hot options were better prepared but generally canteen quality. The quantity of food available was also poor for those not arriving at the start time.

Such a beautiful setting with excellent hospitality. We loved our very private cabin (Calabash) nestled amongst the rainforests. The resort respected its history and delicate ecological spaces. Every staffer went above and beyond. We felt cared for and appreciated as guests, this by far was a bright and shing star in all our travels. Meals were delicious, properly prepared albeit a limited menu. Loved the nightly chef's specials. Housekeepers were very attentive and responsive to our needs with clean crisp sheets and shiny floors. My wife and I were so relaxed. This is not a cookie cutter, everything brand new, corporate-owned resort. The owners (Mr. and Mrs. LaMontagne) were lovely people. Super friendly staff. Great breakfast. Restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. Gorgeous well maintained property. Very authentic and charming cottages. Excellent front desk with concierge service. Highly recommend

This is a beautiful hotel- set right in the rainforest. The forest comes alive at night with sounds of nature. Our cottage was beautifully decorated, very clean and with a terrace to sit out on. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The food was good and drinks reasonably priced. We definitely intend to return.

The resort is a little out of the way but there is a shuttle to the beach each day, easy access to taxis and it's well located for local sites.

Very pleasant for what it is—an old cocoa plantation. Good location in dense rainforest. Good staff.

Unique

We loved the cottage. And the staff in the restaurant.

No advice on how to get around or if there were any tours other than the ones around the hotel. There was nowhere to walk to as it was a very busy road with nothing around
