Hampton Inn & Suites Opelika-I-85 Auburn Area

Staff was great

We use this for biz travel as the mid-point overnight - great location and team managing the facility.

We stayed at this hotel over a Friday to Saturday when moving my grandson into his apartment for the fall semester at Auburn. I always stay at Hampton Inns, it is my go-to hotel brand. This time, however, was not good. I set up check-in through digital key, asking to have our room ready at 3 p.m., which is their normal check-in time. Unfortunately, the digital key was not sent to me until after 6 p.m. that night. When we go to the hotel, the front desk clerk told me that I should have called because most of the time their digital key does not work. I've never had that happen before. The room was okay, beds were clean and comfortable, but the bathroom was a mess, see attached photos. Dirty bathtub, black hair all in it, dirty bathroom door that would not close, hooks dangling from the wall, and the morning we were leaving, the toilet overflowed. Hot water was hit or miss also. Also, there was only shampoo and conditioner in the shower area, no body wash like there usually is. I had reported this but nothing was done before checkout. Breakfast was another disappointment. Eggs were burnt, syrup containers empty, no milk for the cereal, cold water for oatmeal of tea, etc. We were there at 8 a.m. so it is not like we were going right at the end of service. I asked to speak to a manger at checkout but was told that one was not available. No offer to take my name and phone number. The good things about this hotel are that it is in a very nice area of Auburn/Opelika, right off of 85 and across from Tiger Town. There are all kinds of restaurants, shopping, and things to do. The hotel itself is in a nice secluded area away from every and the grounds are very pretty. I just have never had this unfortunate type of experience happen at any other Hampton Inn I have stayed at.

The beds were comfortable.

The carpet was dirty, the shower had little water pressure and to top it off the GM was rude to the staff member for trying to help me. I have stayed there before about five or six times. This wasn’t the worst stay here. The worst their where baseball teams staying their as well and they run up and down. the hallways all night. This time the rooms looked run down and the AC needs to be replaced. When you try to talk with the GM well you would have better luck talking with the wall.

At check-in, second room not ready. Had to follow-up twice to confirm if second room was ready. Person at check-in desk was way too casual and lacked professionalism.
