Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Sherman Highway 75 by IHG

Ugh. I saw the overall review average and booked, I should have read the recent reviews first. Pro: the front desk clerk was pleasant and did his best. Cons: the hotel rooms are dated and very dingy. In the first room we were given, the chair was so stained and dilapidated. The mattress was broken one side and caused the mattress to sag horribly. We asked for a remedy and the clerk issued us a second room. This was supposed to be a suite. It was so dingy. The jacuzzi tub had broken parts and had seen better days 10 years ago. We did not use it in any way. The shower was full of mildew stains and had someone’s personal soap left on the shelf, was it cleaned? Everything in the room felt damp and caused allergies the next day. The curtain was broken some and the pillows were so flat that we both slept horribly. There were hair grease stains on the headboard that could have easily been wiped off. Overall cleanliness and upkeep was severely lacking. The next morning, the breakfast hot bar was empty when we came downstairs. We left tired and hungry which is completely opposite of what we should have been. As IHG members and holiday vacation club members, we are very disappointed.

Let me preface by saying that upon arrive I should have turned around and never looked back seeing as how their was parts missing from the sign on the front of the building in addition to the sketchy area it was in… Upon entering the parking lot there were several sketchy men scattered about sitting in vehicles, as well as standing around the building in dark corners. All of these men were in phones and just looked ominous and the whole environment felt unsafe. Per usual and against better judgement, I proceeded to check in. Once inside my room and before I had time to put my things down, there were baby cockroaches crawling about the tables as well as dead ones smushes on the walls throughout the room. When reporting it, the person at the front desk just put that we saw a bug, and never recorded the extent of what was in the room. I wondered if they had just prayed for bugs considering the whole place smelled like some type of chemical. We were moved upstairs where the room keys wouldn’t work, and got stuck on the elevator on the way back down to request a refund so we could leave. Regarding cleanliness, there was mysterious stains of fluids that had dripped on the carpet at some point throughout the whole building. Not to mention that the price was what I consider to be high given that non of the advertised amenities were available. In a nutshell, trust your instincts and don’t proceed when there are clear signs you shouldn’t.

This hotel was awful from the time we pulled up and walked in. The outside was unkept and the smell that greeted you when you walked in was very powerful, like they were trying to cover up some other smell. CHECK IN: When we checked in, with my 2 elderly parents in tow, we were informed that the elevator was not working and that they had us on the second floor. When reservations were made the week before this was not disclosed. Apparently the elevator has been broken for over a month. My elderly parents wilted when they heard we were going to have to climb stairs. Of course there were no rooms downstairs, those were all taken. We asked for a refund, but that was not honored. We checked in (because we had paid $150 for this room and they would not refund) and went to get the only luggage cart in the whole hotel, which appeared to have been ran over and the wheels on it turned in, so it did not roll correctly. We pushed the cart to the stairwell and hoisted all our luggage up 2 flights of stairs. Normally a broken elevator would not be an issue, but when you are travelling with elderly parents it becomes an issue, and if there had been a disclosure about the broken elevator when booking, I would have booked somewhere else. THE ROOM: VERY outdated, dark and dingy. The bed we had was AWFUL and rolled at a downward slant. Very uncomfortable bed. The bathtub had some mold in various spots. Of course a room that can hold 4 people only had 2 towels, so we had to get more towels. Water pressure in the shower was great tho! BREAKFAST: We went down to eat breakfast about 7:45 and were sadly disappointed that they had ran out of just about everything. We asked them if they were going to refurbish breakfast, which we were told yes. Finally after 30 minutes of waiting they brought more bacon out, followed by potatoes. Breakfast was good, ONCE you got it! OVERALL: Would not recommend this hotel and will for sure not stay there again!

Had a really good stay at this hotel. It does require some maintenance but overall we were happy

The elevator was broken. The shower was covered in mold and the shower head was clogged and barely let water out. The bathroom floor was broken and cracked tile. Very poor maintenance overall

Elevator was out of service, card key wouldn't work on exterior door, my room door once you got in would not shut unless you are in the room, ants were in the window and on the curtains, vent doors weren't covering the jetted tub, hair was in the bathtub thats inside the bathroom.

The elevator does NOT work, and hasn’t worked in more than a week. Bed wasn’t good. Only ice machine that works is on the 3rd floor. I did not feel like climbing 3 flights to get some ice. The shower had mold in the caulking and looked really out of date. I like HIE, but this one needs a major update!
