"A "Living Museum" and Serene Escape on the Hooghly"

After flight issues due to a blizzard we arrived tired and jetlagged. From the moment we arrived in front of the hotel we were treated like family. The warmth of every staffer touched our hearts. We immediately made connections. For travelers who value authentic "immersion" over sterile chains, the Polo Floatel is a masterpiece of atmospheric storytelling. As professionals in the themed-entertainment industry, we were struck by how this hotel uses its maritime heritage as a primary design engine. We stayed in a Heritage Room, where a massive window functioned as a "live-stream TV" of the bustling Hooghly River. Watching the tugs and ferries navigate the current from the comfort of our room was hypnotic. The hotel is a favorite for local Indian families celebrating milestones, which gave the atmosphere a genuine, celebratory soul. Pro Tip: Don't miss the Bistro Bar on the top deck at sunset. We took a 5:15 PM Nauka ride (traditional boat) that turned into a two-hour twilight picnic. Coming back to the Floatel with the city lights reflecting on the water was the highlight of our Kolkata stay. Excellent service and a hearty breakfast!

Date : 02 February 2026 To : Polo Flotael Kolkatta Dear Madam/Sir, I the undersigned booked two rooms on 26/27, January 2026, and was allocated two rooms 222 & 216. When I checked-in room # 216, it was equipped with a mini fridge and Room # 222, was without a fridge. I’m insulin dependent and desperately needed a fridge to keep my medications. When I called the reception, they simply lied to me saying hotel rooms are not equipped with room mini fridges. When I informed them about Room # 216, which has a fridge where my co-brother is staying, she said the fridge might be there, but not working. The fact of the matter is that room # 2016), fridge was very much working. During the travel, I need my ice pads to be kept in insulin bag, for that I need to have my pads kept in the freezer (Not in the fridge). I requested the receptionist to keep it in the freezer or else I will be helping her to do the job. She insisted not to come over to the reception and she will take care of it. To my surprise, when I came to check out and about to travel, my ice pads were not in the position to travel with me, due to the fact that they were kept in the fridge not freezer. Mr. Roshan the manager came and I explained all the matter first he was supportive of the staff, when I asked him to come to the two rooms and check the status of the fridge then he was apologetic and I told him your apology will not help me If I go into the coma due to the negligence of your staff. He helped me and gave two mini ice pads. With this letter I would like to inform all the staff and also the booking.com authorities to bring these type of irresponsible staff to book, and they should be penalized. Thanks in advance for your understanding and reading my letter, and in response you will send me the course of action what you are taking for the staff, so that in future no negligence should be done to the guest by playing with their lives.

"A quirky hotel"

The quirky aspect it was on a river was great. Room was as expected and clean.

This is more of a wedding venue. It was noisy in the rooms. The restaurant was shambolic. Twice our simple meals took over an hour ! This was compensated by the restaurant manager. The kitchen are letting the restaurant down and obviously catering for the functions. The offer of reduction on food and beverage bill was not honoured even after I messaged the hotel Message ignored. Not 4* service

Some problems with hot water but it was resolved. Loud music at night time from another ships - but it not depends from hotel
