I suggest adding more seafood options to the dinner buffet. Please be mindful of the noise coming from the dishwashing area next to the dining space. I suggest a door to avoid disturbing guests while they are dining.

The views from the pool were spectacular and the staff are all friendly and cater for all your needs. Our room was nice and had all the amenities. The hotel is a little dated but it's over 100 years old and you can still see the oppulance today. The location is great, close to the temple of the tooth and the lake. Laundry service was great too. Sent a few individual item's which came back really clean. Seeing a monkey stroll by the window on the last day was a highlight.

We paid for a suite with a balcony but it didn't have one. The room was nice but we had to use the main thoroughfare as our outside space. Breakfast finished a bit too early and there wasn't any lunch for half board despite it being stated in the lobby and on our key fob. The food wasn't the best, maybe if you like fish it would be, but the meat dishes were chewy, the dinner time music was nice but he definitely needs to work on his songs. I was a bit annoyed I didn't get to have a swim on the last morning and woken up to the sound of drums at 8am due to a wedding taking place but watching the Kandyian dancers appeased the frustration.

We loved this hotel, the staff were exceptional and the welcome we received was very warm, we were upgraded to one of their Royal Pavilion rooms, which was a nice surprise and very much appreciated after a long flight. The room was spacious and the view from the balcony over the lake was incredible. The beds are ver comfortable and you get a duvet, rather than a sheet, which was great. You do have to be careful of the monkey's in the morning on the balcony, as that was a surprise with my morning cup of tea. The breakfast and dinner buffets were very good with lots of choice. The pool is lovely and clean and the view from the pool is wonderful. We want to give a special mention though to the gentleman that works on guest services in reception, we spoke to him on our first day and told him everything we wanted to do during our stay and he organised it all for us, from a Tuk Tuk tour of Kandy, a driver for the day to take us to The Elephant Freedom project (which we recommend doing) and a car to take us to the station on our last day for our onward journey. All in all, it was a fantastic stay and the staff are all incredible, it was a very nice welcome for the start of our tour of Sri Lanka. Thoroughly recommend a stay here!

Completely out of the hotels control there was a 10 day religious festival going on at the temple, so the hotel was not serving alcohol by the pool during the day. It would have been nice to be able to sit at the pool with a beer and the view, but we will have to return to experience that one, which we most certainly will do :-)
