"Great location"

8.0

I stayed here for a business trip 7-12 Sept. The location was great 40 minutes from the work site and 40 minutes from Muscat. Ideal location for the Muscat Express way as there are a lot of road works on the Muscat/Sohar road. The room was very clean and pleasantly presented. The hotel staff very friendly and welcoming, the food wasn't spectacular but wholesome and well presented. Overall a very relaxing hotel and value for money.

"Peaceful and Quiet - Gr8 relax' in midst of nature"

8.0

Finding the hotel was a bit challenging as a lot of road construction work is going on in and around Barka and Muscat. No signboards giving any direction... got there after repeatedly stopping for directions. Once we finally arrived, were accorded a warm welcome and accosted to our Royal Villa suite. It seemed that we had the whole resort for ourselves as there were hardly any guests at this time of the year. Most of the schools had reopened and the summer holidays were officially finished but not for us as our kids school had a delayed start. Admittedly not the best of seasons to go for a nature resort as people opt for beach resorts during summers however the pools and sauna facilities were very refreshing and the kids loved it.

"amazing hotel but disappointed with minor issues"

4.0

The location, hotel, restaurant variety and atmosphere are all great in the hotel and i am thinking to go back there. Once you are in the resort you won’t go out as all the fun is there. Nevertheless, we had few issues which need to be mentioned. first, they promised to have an LCD TV in the room as we are gathering in the room and we plug PS or laptop to enjoy our stay but they gave us very old TV which is not suiting a 5 star hotel and buttons on the TV was spoiled and the channels were not very clear, so it is a huge disappointment. We asked about the TV they declared that all rooms are having the same TV and that’s not true since this is not our first time to stay in the hotel. Second; when we called the hotel for booking they mentioned there are no free rooms and it is all fully booked, but in Hotels.com they had more than 8 rooms available and we managed to do the booking, so when asked to change the room with a better TV they said it is fully booked and can’t be changed. Third, the prices for renting a bicycle are overpriced. They also mentioned in the booking that DVD player will be included but it was not there, and we didn’t bother to ask for it but since it is part of the package I wouldn’t ask for every single thing since it should be in the room by default just like the iron and iron board. Last but not least, we asked for a twin bed and they gave us a double bed, and when we asked them for that, again they refused to change the room for us.

"Renovation"

2.0

The hotel was under going extensive renovation. The majority of facilities were not available. No fitness centre, no resort shop, no Wifi, only one restaurant open with limited service. The website did not mention any of these restricted services. The staff were apologetic and friendly.

"Oh dear!"

2.0

I'm not sure really where to start . Check- in was fine and then we were taken to our hotel room by Raol, who was very lovely and helpful. The room was very spacious and the furniture old but adequate, though how this hotel has a 5 star rating I will never know. As soon as we entered there was a horrible, fusty smell and the downstairs balcony was very small, incredibly dirty and was over-looking a wall and a pylon. The next day was terrible. At breakfast there was a 20 minute wait for the eggs and most things had run out. The room was filled with screaming children who ran around the tables. We then went to the pool as we thought we would like to spend a day relaxing there. Once again it was filled with children and very loud music playing. This was certainly not a place to relax or enjoy. We went back to the room where we could still here the music, even though we were a 5 - 10 minute walk away. We stayed in our room all day, listening to this awful music which just got louder and louder. It went on till after midnight. When we rang to complain nobody answered the phone at reception and we had to try several times, leaving the phone ringing for about 10 minutes at a time. When we did get through, we were told that there was nothing that could be done about it. Anyway I was extremely thankful when we were able to leave the next day, though felt sad that our relaxing weekend away had turned into feeling like a stay in prison.

"I WILL NEVER CHOOSE THIS UNLESS NO OTHER ALTERNATE"

4.0

The reception staff are confused, like a pigeon that had hit to a wall by 100 KM speed and wanna talk to you,it take you an hour to check in.I have selected double bed and stated in the check in time, but when went to room, it was king bed we were 2x adults business partners. It takes another half an hour that the guy comes with golf cars to take you,This could be very nice if would been close to the beach. Oman is mostly hot and humid, much more than UAE,that's why mango trees grow there. So you can not very much enjoy the green areas of the garden they made. The bed is very bad, it has slop from your feet to head, you feel your back is breaking if you do not use a high pillow. For breakfast you should walk a lot to reach the hall, the salon looks 5* but when you go to breakfast table is 4* and lots of fly over the foods, and even stick to fruits. Same time the restaurant manager and her co were seating and eating instead of serving people, and you had to do all by you.If you had tried Al Aqha hotels, you feel they are 10 star comparing to this hotel. The location is very bad, there is no board guiding you to the Hotel. In baraka we used to drive 1 hour to find it.you should not cross the roundabout otherwise very difficult to find it.it is a hotel designed by french designers, but being run by low quality and low expected local managers. Just pick somewhere else

"all to offer but very little being given"

4.0

The hotel has everything going for it if managed properly and the facilities available to it open and available for use . One restaurant open which was full of conference attendees with presentations going on in teh same dining room whilst trying to dine ! Swimming pool bar shut and offering a dial in service which was not available . Clearly cut backs have been made to staff and this has knocked on to what is being given as a poor service and nothing like as being decribed . A great shame as will not take much to turn around the negative result they are achieving .
