Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Claypool Hill -Richlands Area by IHG

Indoor pool is always a hit with the kids. The pool area is clean and orderly and offers a nice hot tub/ jacuzzi. The staff go above and beyond in any way possible.

The staff was super nice. The hotel and room was very clean and it had everything I needed for my stay.

Employees at the hotel could not have been nicer.! So much so that I had a suspicion they thought I was a spy, secret shopper, etc for the company! Super nice. They even called me after check in to see how it went and if everything went well! And The room had amenities that a higher end hotel provides. A Keurig was provided ( we travel with our own ) so the in room coffee was leaps above the standard hotel coffee maker. Our room was convenient to the breakfast area tho where the breakfast and coffee was free and awesome. Even tho the hotel has some age ( I stayed here over 10 years ago ). Everything looked new without looking “refurbished”.

The hotel itself was fine. Staff was fine except for the fact that no one was ever at the front desk. They were always in the office off to the side. You’d have to stand there for a bit before they would hear someone out there. Maybe a bell to ring might help? The breakfast was nice. We went up to ride the Back of the Dragon rd but besides that. There isn’t really anything to do there in November. We booked a stay Frid- Mon and checked out a day early. We were bored but nothing to do with the hotel.

Having travelled all the way from South Africa, we found the staff super friendly, in particular Crystal who really went out of her way to make us feel at home, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast lady (name escapes me 😢) was so welcoming and took the time to chat to us every morning, great way to start the day 😊. We will definitely be back.

I made my reservations at the Holiday Inn – Claypool Hill using directly through the IHG website. I arrived at the hotel and was immediately greeted by and recognized as a rewards Member by a very nice and efficient desk clerk, who upgraded me from a King Standard to a Suite. Check-in was quick and hassle free and I was in my room in short order. The Room was very clean, spacious and very well attended. The bed was well made and very comfortable. The bathroom was adequate in size and stocked with toiletries. The Wi-Fi was strong and worked well throughout my two-night stay. The breakfast area was rather small and tends to be crowded with limited seating especially if other guests tended to monopolize the majority of the seating for an extended period of time. Both morning or my stay, the same large group took up most of the seats and tables for well over an hour which made if difficult for other guest to enjoy their breakfast. I ended up taking breakfast back to my room both mornings. The breakfast attendant did and excellent job of keeping the area clean and well stocked throughout the advertised hours. This hotel is rather secluded and located well away from Busy U. S. Highway 460. There is no road noise while allows for a quiet and restful night’s sleep. Overall, the staff of this hotel is very polite, professional, and invested in seeing that their guests have an enjoyable stay. I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Claypool Hill and will return anytime that I am in the Tazewell County Area.
