Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Center by IHG

The property was beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I just wish I could have stayed more than one night.

So I'm going to be in the area working for a few days and I choose this hotel. Check in,...even though my room preferences says I would like an upper floor away from the elevator they put me on the 1st floor in the room next to the elevator..ok no problem..go to the room 1st thing I smell....wet carpet, then I saw big fan someone left in the room pointing towards the ac...ok they have an ac leak and left the fan ..strike 2...go to the bathroom..then get my phone out has I'm getting my luggage....no cell service, get my company phone out...no cell service...pull out my laptop you guessed it no cell service ..ok I go to the front desk..."yea we don't have cell service here but you can just use our Wifi to make calls and do your business "... hmmm let's see, I'm going to get my company computer and tie it in to your unsecured wifi?..yea I don't think that I want to explain that to IT...so How about you check me out and i find another hotel?ok so go to the next holiday inn in Carthage..check my card a few days later AND THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE ROOM.. Yep $115 for the 15 minutes I was there...Called the hotel spoke the Manager Danielle...She said seeing that I checked in we have to charge you...I explain that I wasn't my fault I checked out but their room was the problem..she repeats that she understood and they only had one cell provider in town and the service was spotty at best..but she,d check with the owner (who owns the same hotel that I ended up at) if she could get a refund and she'll call me back the next day...since then crickets...so not only are they charging me for their moldy smelling room with no cell service...their charging even though they got my money at the 2nd hotel....STAY AWAY FROM HERE..

I have stayed at this Holiday Inn Express about four times in the last two months for some work I was doing in the area. Normally it is pretty quiet and not much problems. This time was a bit different. When I checked in it was a bit busier, but they had a crew cleaning the parking lot at night that was barricading off over half the parking. My room was at the opposite end of the building than the entrance where everyone else was parking. Then the cleaning crew had their hose run right across the front of the door making it impossible to pull in a suitcase with wheels without having to lift it. The weather was bad, with a drizzle and freezing weather forecast. Seemed that the work could have been postponed until a slightly better conditions. Also the Wifi access code did not work and when it was reported they wanted me to "bring my phone to the front desk so another guest could help me access it." I had to decline since it was a laptop and I wanted to keep my client's information confidential. Normally I use a more secure personal hotspot but there was no signal for T-Mobile or AT&T. (I only need access for VPN access for a network license key to work).
