At the Crater's Edge

We arrived on the big island after visiting Maui and Kauai and opted to stay near the volcano for a different experience. Chris and Eric's place was the perfect spot to relax and complete our Hawaiian adventure. Close to the National Park, the hotel sits in a rain forest and offers cooler weather and a quiet spot. The room was beautiful. It was clean, it was comfortable and we loved letting the fireplace warm up the room during the evening. Eric offered great suggestions on where to go and where to eat which was very useful. Should we ever be lucky enough to go back to the big island, we'd definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful discovery! This place made our visit to Volcano amazing despite some rather soggy weather. The room was luxurious, the hot tub in the rain forest was exotic (and really welcome after a day of hiking), and the hospitality warm and accommodating without being invasive. Thanks Eric & Chris for one of the best vacations we have ever had!

This B&B exceeded our expectations. They thought of everything one could need while staying there. Right down to the lighter for the candles by the bathtub. Don't be put off by the mosquito nets, it's all ambiance and beautiful. The Innkeepers were knowledgeable of the area and helpful but unintrusive. One note, they do not clean your room during your stay, so you will need to make your own bed. Small price to pay for such beauty.

Wonderful place.

We absolutely loved our stay at Crater's Edge! The owners were lovely and made us feel so welcome and special! They thought of every detail, even including binoculars and flashlights in the room for visiting the Volcano nearby. When they discovered it was our anniversary, they left us chilled champagne and chocolates with a sweet card. The room was gorgeously decorated and literally surrounded by the rain forest with glass on two sides, making you feel like you are sleeping right in the middle of it all! The bathroom was also beautiful and included a huge (big enough for two!) jacuzzi tub. Perfect for soaking on the cool nights! There is a small kitchenette and they left us tons of yummy fresh fruit, fresh baked bread and lots of snacks and light breakfast options that were perfect for enjoying before a day exploring. The actual town of Volcano Village, with a bunch of great restaurant options, is only minutes away. And Hawaii Volcanoes Natl Park is also only minutes away. Perfect escape from it all! You will not regret your stay here!

Eric was a fantastic host and his recommendation of things to do and places to eat were super helpful! The room was located in the middle of the rainforest and was so beautiful. We really appreciated some of the finer things like the complimentary fruits and snacks which was a life saver on the treks. It was a very well maintained place and it was clear that the hosts cared about the guests and the property. It was a great plus that is was so close to the Volcano National Park. Note that this is more like a house, renovated to serve as a hotel - so there are only 2 rooms and might be lacking in hotel facilities like room service. But if that is not a problem for you, I would highly recommend this place.

Good quite relaxing place with a hot tub. Well stocked for fridge and nicely finished bathroom. However, no daily room cleaning service, only once a stay fruits for breakfast, showers take a while to warm up.
