Aquila Porto Rethymno

De accomodatie is gelegen vlak bij het oude centrum van Rethymnon en de haven. Wij hadden een zeer goede kamer (zijdelings zeezicht). Er is een groot strand met parasols en drankbedeling tegenover het hotel. Service en eten zijn zeer goed. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Enige nadeel is de transfer in gedeelde shuttle (lees tourbus) van Danaos Travel. Als je boekt, zie je een taxi voor 7 personen, maar in werkelijkheid is dit steeds een tourbus voor 50 pers. die zo dikwijls stopt dat je over de afstand van 78km, 3uren p de bus zit. Er is natuurlijk de optie van een taxi, maar dat kost dan 3x zoveel.

An excellent hotel, with a high standard of accommodation and food. The hotel staff are friendly, efficient and pleased to help. There is a wide choice of food for half board guests, and the a La carte restaurant is very good. Cleanliness and comfort also fine. It is situated across the road from it’s private beach with good facilities.

Fantastic 11 nights . Staff rooms food brilliant. Staff can’t do enough for you and always with a smile. . We had a sea view room and this is well worth extra. So much choice of food breakfast and dinner. Just across road from a fantastic beach with free sun beds for the Hotel.

Just returned from a lovely 11 nights at this hotel. Everything about this place is wonderful. The staff can’t do enough for you so friendly and always happy. The rooms are clean and large. Beds comfortable. We had a sea view which was Lovely. The food is excellent with plenty of choice and hot. Thank you for a wonderful stay definitely return.

The hotel in a fantastic position The food was excellent we were here for 2 weeks and not repetitive choice was very good and chef I could have left my husband and brought him home his skills were top rate Great beds ! The staff make this hotel they are just so attentive friendly and helpful We had a few issues with our room which were sorted but in a 5* hotel should not have happened especially when we paid to upgrade I did not like how the first 2 rows on the beach had to be paid for this is 5* should all be free especially when pool so small and few sunbeds too much emphasis on who pays the most and this felt by a lot of others Very handy for the old town , nice restaurants near by a few complaints about price of drinks but we didn’t find it too bad apart from the water but a great supermarket up the side street so further up a very good chemist and lovely bakery

Currently here having a fantastic holiday. Food is excellent, Lovely comfortable room with huge double bed, walk in shower, large balcony. Staff literally can’t do enough for you. Very attentive. Big shout out to the bar staff. Stella, Maria, chrysoula and the male bar staff (sorry I don’t know your names) are all excellent. There is absolutely nothing I can say bad about this hotel. Its location is right on the beach. Short walk into the town. Unfortunately we’ve only got 3 more days here. Would have liked to have stayed longer but will stay here again and will highly recommend to friends and family.

We arrived to the hotel and with minimum fuss given keys to our superior room. ROOM 509. As we arrived too late for evening meal we were given a voucher for lunch on day of departure. The room was immaculately clean and spacious. We had booked for a seaview and were very happy with this. We received complimentary wine, prosecco, water and fruit (greatly appreciated). The room had a small dining table and a second sofa/bed. Fruit and water were replaced every couple of days. (as required) Balcony had 2 chairs. (suggest bringing these in as too hot to sit on if left out) Bathroom of a good size. Complimentary robes provided. (Never got the slippers!!) Open wardrobe hanging space, but no chest of drawers so limited storage. Plenty indoor seating areas although sadly underutilised. A small book library for visitors to exchange books would I'm sure be appreciated by many. Our booking was for breakfast and evening meal. Options for breakfast were plentiful. Evening meal a few choices of main. Varied salad selection and choice of deserts. Overall adequate. Every evening the hotel provided entertainment which was very good. Uusally 8-10pm so not disturbing for early sleepers. Location of hotel was for us perfect. Plenty of places to have a lovely lunch nearby. Short 10-15 min walk into the beautiful streets of Rethymno. The separate bar/resturant is lovely to sit in the evening while enjoying the entertainment. Staff attention here was excellent especially the female manager. Speciality coffee in room not regularly replaced which was part of our superior room deal. This proved difficult to obtain when requested. Confused as to why every night there was pasta with napolean/bolognese sauce. We were afterall in Crete. Sometimes service was slow to replace dishes that were low so it was luck if you got the nice hot chips or ones out for a while. The food was adequate but it is not top dining. It did feel a little repetitive for choices. On our first week at the hotel we had no problem for the 6.45/7 pm sitting to allocate a table, however we did notice tendency to gueues on the second week for those who arrived later. The hotel states that reserving of loungers was not permitted yet every morning from our balcony we noted regulars putting towels, books etc on beds then heading off for breakfast. This was pool front of hotel. There is another small pool with loungers which are easier to obtain but this does not open until 10.30 am after breakfast has finished. We booked and paid for late check out but for this we had to move to room 130. This room is small and situated at the side of the hotel, so only street view. Adequate to enable us to shower etc. prior to our departure. Staff kindly helped with the move. Towards the end of our stay we were offered what was said to be a superior room to the one given but this had significantly less space than 509 so we declined this offer. Note: Don't forget to book if you wish to use suana + steam room. Overall I would still recommend this hotel it has a lot of positive points. With a few tweaks this could and would be an excellent hotel.

The best experience ever, fantastic service from all the staff most pleasant and welcoming. It was a very high standard and service beyond what we ever were expecting! The food was defenately top noche a pleasant experience! Very clean and well maintained rooms. Super service from all the staff! Fantastic gymnastic so fun. Service even at the beach. The best massage and facial treatments! We felt that we got so much attention that we did not expect! Very comfortable and lovely experience! We are planning to come back soon! Fantastic service inckluding free sun beds at the beach plus beach service, lovely view from the hotel room, great staff, clean and spacious room - we'll be back! :-)
