The Acorn Inn

We have stayed here on more than one occasion and it has always been a great experience. This time the room we booked was flagged as "small" (it was all that was available for the 1 night we wanted), but we were pleasantly surprised at how relatively spacious it was. As ever it was a very comfortable stay in a quintessentially English village setting. The building is full of character too. The breakfast was excellent, with a great choice from the hot food menu as well as an array of cereals, fruit etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Only a very minor point really, but we did find the service at breakfast was marginally below their usual very high standard. It looked like they were a bit short staffed, and having waited quite a while, we had to remind the person serving that they hadn't taken our order. As I said, this was very minor and didn't spoil anything. The fact I mention it is because, from experience, this is a rare occurrence at this very well run hotel.

We stayed on an exceptionally hot day and there was no ac but it’s an old building and you’d be unlucky for this to be a problem.

The bedroom was small

Integrated with the local community- they had a prominent sign detailing and locating all local suppliers. We were treated to a performance of Morris dancing in the Acorn car park. The food and drink were outstanding. Service would not be better.

staff very helpful and friendly, very dog friendly place to stay, food was superb, lovely village location and quite.

It was so charming and cozy! There was a wedding reception on so we didn’t get to spend time in the main bar but did really enjoy the grounds (sitting in the garden with a gin—☺️, the lounge was adorable and a cozy place to read for a while, the dining room wonderful). The decor was so sweet; the room (suite) was well appointed and very comfortable! The food was also just fabulous, especially considering my friend was vegetarian—she loved it as well. The best part were the staff though who were all just amazing. Friendly, sociable, super helpful and kind!

Our room was at the top of the hotel and as my husband is very tall, he had to be aware or ceiling heights. But the room was comfortable.
