Polurrian on the Lizard

Beautiful location but the spa is not great outdoor swimming pool is ok and indoor pool was ok aswell not to small lots of stairs to the rooms and no air conditioning what so ever room was roasting hot even with windows open but the location is amazing would go again but use a different hotel

Anniversary stay for 3 nights, sea view room exceeded expectations. Beautiful gardens and fantastic views from the dining and bar areas

We stayed 27th to 29th June. I have to say that the room was nice, and nicely set up for us having our dog with us. The hotel was very nice in most areas, the bar and vista area was particularly nice. The outdoor pool was quite nice, not very warm but heated enough to make it usable. The indoor pool and jacuzzi definitely need refurbishment, with missing tiles in the pool and jets not working on the jacuzzi. The worst part of our stay was the meal we had in the restaurant on the second night. My starter was nice, but my wife had a mushroom soup that was more of a thick dip so we exchanged that for something else that was ok. My main was a lemon sole that was mushy, basically seemed microwaved as it should have been flaky, and I had a mouthful of something from my plate that was just bitter and foul tasting so I left most of my meal. My wife's belly pork also wasn't great, definitely the worst belly pork I've had and seemed microwaved. We were actually 45 minutes late being seated with poor communication on when the table would be ready, this was following a wedding reception. That meal really ruined the stay it was that bad and it feels it might have been due to being overstretched with catering for the wedding as well as hotel guests.

Polurrian Hotel is in a fabulous position, with far-reaching sea views and extensive landscaped grounds. Our room was spacious and well-equipped with pleasant décor. Our only concern was that it was very warm and the desk fan provided did little to help the situation. We had a room on the top floor and there is no lift, so guests need to be fit to manage the four flights of stairs. Once there, however, the views are wonderful. The food is generally very good, although the breakfast buffet is a little limited. Being a dog-friendly hotel is a huge bonus and walks around the grounds, the immediate area and to the beach made for a very enjoyable stay.

Dissapointing. Would not recommend if you want sleep. Went for a restful weekend with some walking. Location lovely, hotel was like a holiday park. The games room was noisy until after 11 pm on Friday and 11pm Saturday. Wouldnt have bothered us but it could be heard in the rooms. People were having loud conversations outside our room after 11pm.

We had a fabulous weekend stay with a superb dinner on both evenings. The bed was comfortable. The shower was powerful. The hotel was clean. The staff were efficient and friendly. We enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool on the first day and we're glad to have the indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi on the second day, because the weather was blustery and misty. We would particularly like to thank Megan on reception and Poppy in the dining room. We couldn't fault anything! Thank you so much. We look forward to staying with you again.

We stayed at the Polurrian for two nights and ate in the vista lounge both evenings. Generally the hotel is good, beds are very comfortable and the shower is powerful with plenty of hot water. Nice touch having fresh filtered water and fresh milk in the fridge in the room. Service in the vista lounge was quite slow although on the first evening staff were well aware of the delays and did compensate us with money off the bill. The lack of a lift could be a problem for some as the stairs to the 2nd floor are quite a trek and steep. We were offered help with luggage but declined as we didn’t have a lot. All in all a good stay and would stay again

What a fabulous location. The room was really nice and even had a fridge which was really useful and unexpected. We loved the Elemis toiletries. The food was really good and well presented. My only issue and it's not really a bad one, was that on our final morning I ordered eggs Benedict only to be told there was no Hollandaise sauce! Disappointing. I chose an alternative as eggs Benedict without the sauce wouldn't really work. Like I say, not a real complaint as such. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. People comment on slow service but I felt that everything was being cooked to order and I love a leisurely unrushed breakfast, especially when you have such a gorgeous view. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I'm sure we'll return at some point in the future as we enjoyed our stay so much.

Overall this was a good experience - we were at my nephew's wedding - perfect venue and spectacular views. The hotel has had some good redecoration - but some areas were a little tired. Food was good, bar service in the evening was good. Daytime and breakfast service was a bit slow - but I know how hard it is to recruit staff in Cornwall. We chatted to a student who was serving in the bar - she was really friendly and clearly loved her job.

My wife and I had an amazing holiday experience. This hotel boasts a beautiful location overlooking the sea and the b dramatic Cornish coastline. The staff are super friendly and simply do everything in their power to make your stay memorable. The food is excellent and the amenities top notch. We will be returning next year as will a number of our friends.
