Polurrian on the Lizard

The hotel is in a wonderful location. The facilities, food and staff were first class. We stayed in a villa which was beautiful and made all the difference to our holiday.

Our first stay here and hope to return some time. Very reasonably priced. Great room and comfortable bed. Staff very helpful and friendly with nothing too much trouble. No pets and we didn’t use the pool or spa as we’re in our 70s and were keener to go out and take advantage of the gorgeous weather and beautiful countryside and beaches!

We had a two night stay and overall the break was lovely. We were also given a room upgrade which was unexpected but very welcome.

Easy to locate, nice view across the water, great walking area. Hotel room was a bit small for my liking, bathroom was compact. Breakfast was good.

We arrived to find out the hotel had no wifi and was told it would be better in our private villa which was located above the main hotel. The WiFi was also down here, we had a pre arrangement to be placed into villa six which has the sea view but was told we would be placed in villa two. They managed to move us into villa six which was great. This hotel is classed as a four star hotel and I would rate as a three star hotel. The facilities need lots of maintenance and upgrades. The swimming pool and gym especially is very dirty, dated and lacking equipment. We settled at the bar on arrival and asked for two cocktails. We asked for a margarita on the rocks and an espresso martini, we are unsure what we received but the margarita arrived an orange colour & martini very sweet and weak of alcohol and coffee. These were alter changed but again not the best. This hotel needs lots of attention, the majority of staff need training. The restaurant manager (woman) & restaurant assistant were very good. We were greeted by a receptionist that lacked any sort of job satisfaction and helpfulness. Asking questions felt like a chore if I’m completely honest. We would not return to this hotel & would highly recommend staying in a 4 star hotel in Falmouth called St Michael’s. Very disappointed trip from London to Cornwall.

Very friendly and eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible and the dogs

I’m writing to escalate a complaint regarding my recent stay at Polurrian Hotel, booked through your platform from 18th to 20th July 2025 (Room 204). This is now my third attempt to seek resolution. Despite multiple emails and calls, the hotel has failed to respond meaningfully. When they do reply, they claim not to have received previous correspondence. Their refusal to cooperate has left me with no choice but to request your direct intervention. The stay was deeply disappointing, with multiple issues that fall far below the standards advertised on your site: • Unhygienic bedding: We discovered what appeared to be fresh blood stains on the mattress topper. Housekeeping responded but could not resolve the issue. • Misleading facilities: The gym was in poor condition, with broken or missing equipment. Staff showed no concern when we raised this. • Restricted access due to wedding: We were unable to access key areas like the lawn and pool due to a private event. Reception claimed guests were notified, but we received no such communication via Expedia. • Poor maintenance of spa and pool: The facilities were dirty, damaged, and unsafe. I have photo and video evidence. • Neglected games room and snug: Equipment was missing or broken, and the space was left in disarray. Loud music from the events room disrupted our evening. While breakfast and spa treatments were excellent, they do not compensate for the overall lack of cleanliness, maintenance, and customer care.

It was lovely to be right on the South West coast path from the hotel door. The staff are really friendly. The food was well cooked and the menu included pizzas. We used the leisure centre but unfortunately not the outdoor pool as the weather was awful. We will stay here again when we're in the area.

Lovely views and friendly staff. Missing a final polish and speed of service . Shame the indoor pool had to booked around local lessons and that the gym had old and slightly tired equipment.
