Polurrian on the Lizard

We stayed for a 3 day weekend. The room had lovely sea views, was comfortable and the food quality excellent, with adequate, friendly staff. Plenty of car parking, dog friendly and in a lovely setting with cliff walks on the doorstep. Highly recommended.

The views were stunning, in fact the whole area is. The staff were all very friendly. The inland room was perfectly pleasant and the bed was comfy but the pillows were not great and we had trouble getting hot water from the sink tap unless the shower was run first. If you are vegan or vegetarian then the food is not brilliant. There is barely any choice for dinner and the vegetarian breakfast was appalling. Cheap ingredients used for the beans and plant sausages and not very hot either. I can’t speak for meat eaters, the food might have been fine for them.

The property is a bit tired, which is not unusual for properties of this vintage, but the location on the coast path makes up for it! Does not cater for vegetarians/vegans. There's a couple of items on the menus, but they didn't have several items. "Chef doesn't have it!" was my favourite waitress response!

Good food & location.. poor service in the Vista. Staff need training. Enjoyed the pool -well-managed for this- not busy. Not welcoming especially when they prevent entry to room at 11am on the dot !

We love the hotel as it has very friendly and helpful staff, the food is top quality and delicious,and the views are amazing. Sitting overlooking the sea with a glass of Prosecco is just perfect .

Breakfast staff on two days of my four night stay, were a little unwelcoming, querying whether I was on the list, or arriving at the correct time. Otherwise a very nice stay.

We first visited the Polurrian in 2024 to view it as a potential wedding venue and were instantly blown away by its character, views, and charm. The decision was made there and then — it was perfect. From that moment, Georgia and the team were incredible: professional, kind, and always going above and beyond. When we returned for our food tasting, we had another brilliant experience — the food was delicious, and the service faultless. Maggie on reception was a standout — warm, attentive, and incredibly helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Fast forward to our wedding weekend with around 100 guests, and everything exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt in the best hands. The Friday night woodfired pizza buffet was a huge hit with everyone — relaxed, fun, and absolutely delicious. On the wedding day itself, the team took care of everything — managing suppliers, setting up décor exactly as discussed, and handling all the little details so we could truly relax and enjoy the moment. So many of our guests complimented the staff, and we’d love to highlight a few people who made the weekend unforgettable: Maggie – An absolute star! She handled everything from lost keys to last-minute breakfast changes with patience and a smile. She even walked a baby to sleep so our friends could eat their dinner hot — that’s going above and beyond! Josh – Total legend and “saver of veils”! Thank you for the golf buggy ride to the beach for photos and for climbing back up the cliff to retrieve my runaway veil. You literally saved the day! Lyneth – Always cheerful, attentive, and kind. Her warmth and efficiency didn’t go unnoticed — our friends and family all mentioned how lovely she was. Georgia – The superstar who made everything possible. From start to finish, she made planning a wedding feel effortless. Always quick to respond, full of great ideas, and genuinely lovely to work with. Nothing was too much trouble, even with our slightly mad suggestions! And finally, a huge thank you to the bar team — we might not have caught names (we were too busy on the dance floor!), but they were friendly, fast, and helped keep the party going all night. The Polurrian team are second to none. Every single person made us and our guests feel cared for and welcome. My daughter bought us a buyagift voucher for afternoon tea for two. After reading the reviews I was a little worried about what we would experience so my expectations were not very high. However, we had a wonderful time! I easily booked on line giving the voucher details with my booking. It was no problem to use it on a Sunday. We were very lucky with the weather as it was a glorious autumn day but it would have been an equally stunning view watching crashing storm waves. Although my sat nav lost connection, the hotel was well signposted. Plenty of space in the Carpark and we didn’t have to register our numberplate at this time of year. We were greeted as we entered the Vista and our booking was there. We could choose where we sat and, being Sunday afternoon, there was live music. The views from the Vista are stunning. We were given the menus and, on the advice of the server, we chose one sweet and one savoury afternoon tea. We decided to upgrade with a beer and a Prosecco that were not over priced. The tea arrived quickly and was delicious. We particularly liked the variety of the savoury one. There were two scones on each that were fresh and warm. The cakes on the sweet tea were lovely and definitely not straight out of a packet. We didn’t manage them but were given a box to take them home. We were not rushed and enjoyed our lovely relaxing afternoon, followed by a little cliff walk. Thank you polurrian, we will be back!

We love this Hotel ❤️ This was our third stay and we will be back again. The staff here really do have the balance right, they are attentive without being intrusive. We had a beautiful room with fantastic sea views. Last week sitting out on the front lawns in the Sunshine it was absolute bliss - you could have been in the South of France but we were in beautiful Cornwall on the Lizard. There is no where better. Simple touches really do matter, like wishing us a happy wedding anniversary before we sat down for dinner that evening. I had only mentioned this when booking months before, but they remembered. Thank you to all the staff, we will see you next year.
