"didn't like it there"

Room was very basic, hotel was run down. Could hear banging of doors from other hotel users. Close to shopping centre and easy to get about but wouldn't book here again

"Glorified refugee camp"

2.0

Screaming babies from every angle, filthy corridors with questionable stains, rooms not much cleaner. The kind of place where you fear for your safety every time you leave your room which is blindingly lit by office grade flourescent lighting. Abandon all hope ye who enter here. Staff were quite nice though.

"To call this a hotel is a stretch of the imaginat!"

4.0

We booked last minute but having booked like this before I was careful to check certain things, much information lacking online leads to suggest basic but a hotel all the same. However on arrival a hotel is not what we found, the entrance was sparce with signs warning against foul language and that all visitors had to be logged. Odd I thought but as I looked I noticed on the counter a homeless persons sign in sheet and an emergency housing list, this is when it dawned this hotel had multiple uses not something that was advertised or made clear on the hotel page available. The staff were polite but English spoken only in small amounts we were sent to the top floor for out room of two nights, the fist thing that struck us was the clutter in the hallways, fire doors propped open with bikes and toys, washing racks and bin bags strewn across the floor blocking the fire exit altogether. There were clearly families in one room and we were all expected to share a shower room with poor quality fittings. The bathroom were not cleaned by staff or residents like. The room itself was clean but very basic, no to or drink making facilities, no information pack or advice on eateries. No indication as to whether breakfast was served at the hotel but no facilities i.e. Bar or restaurant area. Absolutely nothing very bland. Very mis advertised and for what it was very over priced not appropriate to mix paying guests in rooms next to other hotel users i.e. Emergency housed needs reviewing!!

"Good"

2.0

The confirmation emails were confusing as one stated the correct address and the other sent me to a different area completely. When I got there, I found out that the hotel had taken money from my bank, which would be returned as a deposit, but then also wanted additional money for security. No TV in the room, no wi-fi in the hotel at all, the only good points are it's location close to the train station, and a local shopping centre

"Homeless Shelter"

2.0

Myself and the person who was due to stay at the hotel turned up at the hotel and was appauled by what we saw. There was a room opposite reception which was also a room they charge for someone to stay in. The door was wide open and there were towels all over the floor, some with blood on it! We asked to see the room and were both absolutely disgusted by the condition. There was blood on the sheets, on the mattress, carpet had stains, the hotel was not advertised as a homeless shelter which we later came to find out about. We went straight to reception and spoke with the receptionist, there was other chaos going on at the same time that we was trying to speak with him. We explained that due to my partner having asthma there was no way he could stay in a room in such bad condition. To be honest no one could stay in a place like that! The receptionist contacted the sister hotel and asked us to go there and have a look at another room which they was happy to offer us at the same price. We returned the keys and went over to Park Hotel. They soon arranged for us to view the room that was available and checked my partner in. Please do not book a room in this hotel, it is a homeless shelter and there is a form at front desk which clearly states this! They should not really advertise this place as a hotel as it is false advertising.

"it was a horror"

2.0

york hotel's location is that kind of place where you should not walk alone in the night. but ok, nvmd. primo, the smell. I don't know what it was and I don't really want to know. when you walk upstairs, you will see the floor covered with chicken bones. and towels. towels everywhere! and screaming kids, left without any adult person till night. the room was ok, clean, and the staff was very nice, room was cleaned every day and you receive fresh towels every day. And that's the mistake. They give you fresh towels every day so these kids are throwing them everywhere. The worst part is bathroom. I won't even mention the odour. But THE TOWELS!!! EVERYWHERE!! whole floor covered with them, even the thrash in bathroom is full of towels. oh and the shower doesn't seem to be cleaned even once for a week..or month.. yuck. I thing theese people live there permanently so I'm warning you. Maybe I'm wrong. oh and one last thing. they take some amount of money from your bank account, they should give you it back within 5-7 days after your check-out but don't believe in miracles.
