Royal Lodge

Fantastic location next to the river with lovely riverside and woodland walks straight out the front door. The staff were wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful. The room was very good (Suite with Balcony) with a large comfortable bed and views over the river, hills and woodland beyond. The meals and breakfast were very tasty and reasonably priced. A nice dining room, well furnished with lovely views.

Parts of the hotel generally could do with updating, as some of it looked a little tired and old fashioned. Car parking was extra although not that expensive (£8.00 per day). The music broadcast outside during the day although not loud was unnecessary and spoilt the quiet atmosphere of the location and hotel.

One of the best veggie breakfasts I have had. Comfortable beds. Lovely fire and dining room Lots to do in the area and beautiful surroundings. Recommend going to Yat rock - stunning views!!

None of these would stop be coming again - minor points: No mobile signal It's true that the rooms are a bit dated Some building repairs on-going Food is pricey but in keeping with the area generally. Bedroom near stairs can be noisy. No rooms on ground floor so trickier for disabled people, there is no lift.

Room was Hot at night, even with windows open

Reception staff were very friendly, restaurant staff need work all of them wearing dirty scruffy trainers and the lady wasn't friendly we only asked for some more vinegar and mayonnaise as the ones she gave us were empty. She was blunt and kept huffing and puffing. Rooms were very dated and no pressure in the shower just a trickle of water. I think an iron in every room would be great and thinner duvets they were so heavy and warm. The location was perfect although there was scaffolding outside our window which is fine as I know at times work may be needed to be carried out.

The location was stunning with plenty to do within walking distance, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and very good quality, and it was reasonably priced!

Location, room, food, staff, facilities - everything the hotel provided was amazing, thank you Especially as the staff were so kind and understanding as we had our 17 month old with us. We will be staying again, and are considering looking at the venue to host our wedding too.

We unfortunately had workmen on the roof above us during the daytime, which wasn’t ideal with a baby as he needed to nap during the day. But we do understand work has to be done and this was a weekday stay in April so not a massive issue for us, plus other than that everything was absolutely amazing.
